It's good you are thinking about a future career. To prepare, I suggest you do everything to get the best grades you can in school. Why? Because whatever path you take in life the best academic foundation will lead to more success.

Most people think majoring in art is the way to go, I don't feel that way at all. To be successful in any career, you need a good foundation in business and communication, and that requires well developed skills in math, English (both in reading and writing) and history (so you can see what others have done in the past so you don't just copy others or repeat their mistakes).

On top of this, go to visit newspapers and professional photographers and listen to their story. Evaluate where they have succeeded and where they could have done better.
Hope this helps.

What is the hurry? Relax and just enjoy yourself. When you're closer to college you can begin thinking seriously about career options.

Look for amateur photography clubs and join one in your area... take photography classes at your school if possible.... if not, take them at the local community college.... But, get out and take photos every day.
