Sometimes, the Brain and the mouth get into a race/ At my age, my brain has slowed down a bit but for some dumb reason, my mouth has speeded and it wins that race occasionally. I tend to forget that old adage, "Make sure brain is in gear before engaging mouth.". So, Yes, I do make myself look like a total idiot sometimes.

Well honey, many people often speak before they think though. Some of them speak at the spur of the moment (blurt), some of them speak in the heat of the moment (anguish), while others just speak whatever that comes in mind (frankness).

To me, I am in the league of anguish and frankness though. As for blurt, I do think before I speak so as not to hurt anyone directly.

Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

I guess we all do most of the time. The only moments wherein one doesn't think about his words anymore is when he is caught in an intolerable argument where his reflex mechanism goes off rattling in insensible speeches...after which he regrets having said, but couldn't take back anymore.
It's always worth it to think first before we speak...because the toe we may be stepping on at the moment may belong to someone whose '@ss' we'd be kissing someday.

(Have a pleasant day, Moon!)

I'm considered to be a smartass, but I'm also a very impulsive
person so sometimes I fire from the hip and I say things I've thought trough in split seconds, and even though what I say is probably true, saying it at that particular time and moment is
just not the right place and time.
So I end up with my foot in my mouth .....again.
I should learn to keep my big mouth shut
Especially in relationships.

Annie Lennox in the lovely song ...WHY? explains it better
than I ever could.

I have to. I have a speech impediment that is actually getting worse as I get older. I have no choice but to think before I speak. And while I speak. It's tiring.

I am human, therefore subject to the same emotions that drive us all to do foolish things at times. However, I do try to embrace the think/speak philosophy as often as possible.

I wish I did it every time I spoke, alas being only human I sometimes cram both feet in my mouth so hard I need a tyre iron to get them out.
