For a basic French Toast, you don't really need a recipe. You whisk egg and milk, and often though optional, add vanilla & cinnamon and or nutmeg. There are a lot of ways to 'jazz it up' if you wanted as well. Some people prefer just a little milk and others prefer more milk, that is a personal prefernce. Basic: 2 eggs anywhere from a splash to 2/3 cup milk about 1 tsp pure vanilla extract up to 1/4 tsp of cinnamon (less if you prefer or none at all) Bread - anything you like, I often like a thicker bread Whisk eggs, milk and extras (vanilla, cinnamon...). Soak your bread slices in the egg & milk mixture. Heat your skillet on medium high. If you use a pan other than non-stick you might spray some Pam or add a little butter. Add the soaked bread slices to skillet and cook each side to a golden brown. I usually butter the slices when done and add pure Vermont Maple Syrup. Some people like to sprinkle powder sugar or add fruit to it.

beat a couple eggs in a shallow bowl. Add cinnamon (a little if you're not a big fan, more if you love it). Add some milk to thin it out a bit. dip your bread (thick sliced is better, any will do) into the mix on both sides. fry it in a pan or on a skillet. cook both sides. butter and add syrup or powdered sugar. good stuff and simple. i don't measure, just do it all by feel.

Everyone Raves about mine and it is so easy. There is a trick to WOW french toast and I will share it.

VERY HOT FLAT SKILLET (regular skillet works ok too)
Eggs is what makes it good so dont put but about 2 teaspoons of milk into the eggs...I usually use 5 large eggs....add about 1 tablespoon sugar...and 1tsp vanilla Whisk all together and QUICKLY dip your bread into egg mix and directly to HOT HOT pan...
I sprinkle the up side with a little cinnamon before i flip it. and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. You can use any bread you desire. HOT SKILLET MORE EGGS LESS LIQUID...and dont let your eggs sit too long..practice makes perfect

loads of recipes here (link) but my favorite is dead simple:

cheap white bread, make into jam sandwiches with strawberry jam, whisk a bit of milk and an egg don't measure it just make sure it is a bit runny, put the jam sandwich in the milk pop into a hot pan with a bit of sunflower oil , fry until golden. we used to call this poor knights pudding as kids
eggy bread ( french toast) as above only with one slice bread and no jam, hmmm i am hungry now!

enjoy
