I just started working out recently...joining Curves for Women and walking daily. but I want to track how much calories I have burn each time I do those workouts. I know that people uses calories counter to track these kind of things...does anyone know a shopping store (walmart, target, big 5..etc) where I can get a good one? It's easier for me to just run to the store and buy one then to purchase one online and have to wait for a week for it to arrive. Thanks in advance.

Fitday is a good site to track this kind of stuff:

Another excellent site is Sparkpeople:

You should als calculate your BMR (which is the number of calories you burn each day breathing and other normal body functions). You can use this formula to calculate your BMR

BMR = 655 + (9.6 x weight in kg) + (1.8 x height in cm) – (4.7 x age in Yrs)

or use this calculator:

Any calories you burn from exercising are in addition to these calories.

Assuming you are looking for one of those walk calorie burning counters called a pedometer, you should be able to get one at any of the big box stores. I am not sure if you will get accurate results unless its reading is linked to your heartbeat since while doing your workout a Curves you might be sitting on a machines doing your exercisers burning calories while never walking a step.

For a good unit you might have to go to a specialty store.

the only calories you need to track is the ones you consume.
there is no way you are gona know ever precisely how many calories you have burned - in that case you would have to also know how many you burn blinking your eyes and pumping blood threw your heart.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter your stats and find out how much you need a day to lose/maintain/gain weight. track those!!! use fitday.com for tracking.
