NO!
The Bible is about God and the relationship He wants to have with people. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does not change. Humans are the same yesterday, today and forever, because the nature of man never changes. Society and cultures may be different and more sophisticated but the Bible is right up to date about us.
People throughout the ages have tried to destroy and get rid of the Bible. They have burned it, chained it, false religions twist and distort the scriptures, discredit it and steal from it but, no atheist, agnostic, cult or occult will ever get rid of it. It has out lasted all the unbelieving and continues to be the # 1 book in the world. No other book has ever been more attacked for this long. It is the only book that is God-breathed.
The Bible is not to be worshipped, the God of the Bible is to be worshipped and praised. God did not have to give us this book but, He did and those of us who belong to Him are grateful because we would not know, understand and appreciate what God has done to, for and in us through Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Yes if you are a christian ,morals should be the least of your worries. As far as sending you to hell, I don't think so, but if you can live that life without any guilty feelings if I were you I would question whether you have been saved or not. You or myself are the only ones that will have to face God alone. No matter who in this world we try to impress, the one we should be concerned about our own life, and not use a(scare tactic) to make us live any way is God. He's a loving God, not someone to fear.I'll be praying for you.

That is an oversimpled statement. I think you have a point that scare tactics are used, but anecdotes about the proper ways to live and the way to treat people also are used in heavy repetition and what about the old testament. The old testament gives the whole history of the Hebrew people.
It is so much more than a book of morals, but that is a major aspect of it.

Yes I completey agree with you. That is exactly I said about the three major religions. The Christians, Islams, and Jews scare there people about hell, and if you don't follow them they would burn in hell of all time. Religion is just to keep people in line and make sure they behave themselve. With out a religion that scares their people their society would be doom. Plus religion gives people hope that there crapy life is not all, that when they dead to still have something to look foward to. To know that this life not all that is offered but an afterlife.

the bible does have morals for people to follow but that's like common sense like treating others like how you would like to be treated. I think the bible is as important however believers should concentrate more on their relationship with god because that's what's going to get you to heaven. You have to understand god and believe in him. I know that there is a devil, so in that case there must be a god.

yes and no, i believe they do want you to follow the "morals" but mainly "they" want you to have a personal relationship with the Father.... and i don't know if "hell" is a scare tactic, but it should be, why would you want to go to hell when it's so easy to make the choice to go to heaven?

Nope, I don't agree with that statement.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philemon 1:3

In most churches, yes. I grew up Christian, went to church every Sunday and youth group every Wednesday night. As soon as I was old enough to start thinking for myself I stopped going. They couldn't answer all of my questions and when I suggested that most of the bible is meant to be taken symbolically, rather than literally, I was immediately told I was wrong. I hated feeling so judged, when they were the one's teaching me God was the only one who was aloud to judge me.

Now I consider myself Agnostic.

"The Bible is a book of morals that they want you to follow and they try to use the scare tactic of going to hell to get people to follow it." -chrisraska

Chrisraska,

Your statement makes some good points.

True, the Bible is a book of morals.

True, many people have preached, "Do good or burn."

Good works and deeds are commonly found in all religions. In most religions, one's spiritual salvation and eternal destination is based upon the amount of good deeds, and or ritualistic practesses that he or she does. In short terms...

"self redemption."

However, even though Religion and non-biblical teachings (salvation by works) have crept into the faith of Christianity over the years, Biblical Christianity has survived.

Some common misconceptions about Christianity include:

Going to church, wearing a cross on your neck, saying ritualistic prayers, doing the hand motion of a cross forgives sin, You get to heaven based upon how good you are, or which religion you follow... or which translation of the Bible you have, or how you comb your hair...

All the above is not True Christianity... it may be Religious Christianity, or copycat Christianity... but it's not Biblical Christianity.

Let us look at what the Bible actually says:

"If we confess our sins, He(God) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."- Romans 10:9

"For it is by Grace, that you have been saved, through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."- Ephesians 2:8-9

The above is the basics of salvation from sin, according to Christianity; It is by faith in Christ, and God's Grace and forgiveness that one has access, not only to God, but to heaven.

... but Christianity doesn't end with a statement of faith before God...

no, Real Christianity is a lifestyle... it is a relationship with God - not a stuffy religion... or a simple religious belief.

Christianity is suppose to be, the immitation of Christ' life.

Jesus said, "Do to others as you would have them do to you."- Luke 6:31

Accept one another... just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God."- Romans 15:7

"Love one another deeply, from the heart." - 1 Peter 1:22

"Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others." - 1 Corinthians 10:24

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you."- Ephesians 4:32

This is true Christianity...

The following verse sums it up perfectly... and it's one of my favorite verses.

"Whoever claims to live in Him, must walk as Jesus did."- 1 John 2:6

Sure, this verse sets the bar high for everyone who professes to be a Christian.

And even though we still sin, and aren't perfect people... we should try to be like Christ.

We should do good and live as Christ did because we are saved, and not in order to become saved.

That is not what the bible does that is what religious leaders do. Which most of them do not follow the morals in the bible.

The wages of sin is death, not life in torment

(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

The dead rest unconscience in hell., hades, sheol. Awaiting a resurrection.

(Psalm 89:48) What able-bodied man is there alive who will not see death? Can he provide escape for his soul from the hand of She´ol? Se´lah.

(John 5:28-29) Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

(John 11:24-25) Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life;

(Revelation 20:13-14) And the sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Ha´des gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds. 14 And death and Ha´des were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.
