My boyfriend took some anti-biotics last night around 9. He woke up this morning, and did not tell me, but was getting a rash, and his throat had a swollen feeling. I don't know whay, but he thought it would be ok.
He said it still feels swollen, but it's not getting worse. He still has a rash on his arms, but it's not getting worse.Should
he still go to the E.R. to get it looked at , or should he just call his Dr. for a new med.?

Thanks!

He called his Dr. and they want to see him,but we think it's just to get him $ for an office visit. His Dr. is like that....anyway, was his Dr. right or just being typical ? Should he go to have it looked at somewhere?

I forgot one more thing... His Dr. won't give him anything unless he comes in. He does this alot, even if it's just for a refill on Allgera D.
He has a sinus infection, so he does need the meds.

The problem is that his Dr. is not very good with his patents. he had him tested for Mono three times after he had it. He just makes me wonder if he knows what he is doing. He is shopping for a new Dr. just hasn't found one here yet.

It depends on how long it has been (e.g. around 9 in what time zone.) If it has been 12 or 14 hours, then there is likely not much more to the med reaction. The first thing he should do is to STOP TAKING the medication, and in the future remember it as being an allergy.

He should call his doctor to have the medical staff determine if he is currently having a medical emergency and if not to get a new prescription. Any difficulty breathing or swelling of the throat, he should seek immediate medical assistance.

Drum: He needs to be seen by the doc that prescribed the meds that made him sick. He needs to stop taking the antibiotic and get back right away. That being said, I sense some dissatisfaction with the treatment that you feel that he is getting from his doctor. Once he has this past him, he should shop around for a doctor that he feels will give him better treatment. It makes sense not to prescribe meds over the phone. How good would that Allegra script be if the problem was sinusitis and not allergy? There is a reason they ask you to come in, they need to make sure it is not bacterial or viral in nature. Hope he is feeling better soon.

It sounds like an allergic reaction. He should take an anitihistamine like Benadryl. He needs to stop that particular antibiotic and call his MD to be put on a different kind. The reaction won't get any worse after this time has passed and the Benadryl will help the symptoms subside. If he ever were to take that class of antibiotic again, the reaction would get much worse. From now on, whenever any MD wants to put him on an antibiotic, he needs to tell them the reaction he had.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to the new meds. Try taking some benidryl and call the doctor.
