The common adverse reaction to telithromycin (Ketek) is diarrhea; less common adverse reactions include (but aren't limited to) dizziness, headache, rash, blurred vision, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Although cases of torsades de pointes have been reported, this isn't a risk for most.
There are no common adverse reactions for gaitfloxacin (Tequin); less common adverse reactions include (but aren't limited to) headache, dizziness, palpitations, tinnitus, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, rash, dysuria, joint pain, dyspnea and vaginitis. The life-threatening adverse reacton is anaphylaxis.
Torsades de pointe is potentially dangerous but can be reversed. Anaphylaxis is potentially dangerous but can also be reversed. Most antibiotics have diarrhea, rash, nausea & abdominal pain as adverse reactions. ALL medications have potential side effects.
