VET! VET! VET-I agree with the person who said he may have diabetis - my friends cat was the same way and now with a shot or two a day(which the cat doesnt seem to mind) he has gained his weight back and is fine.
Please post and let us all know how BOOM BOOM is doing

Just get it to the vet!
loss of weight, and drinking too much can be a thousand different thing. From thyroid, to kidney or liver problems (or diabetes as pointed out above), all common in old cats, and all PERFECTLY TREATABLE if treated in time. However in failing to treat it you could be doing more damage. Liver and kidneys for example often fail to work properly in older cats, treated quickly they can live long happy lives, left they can rapidly deteriorate. Please take the cat to a vet, they can do the relevant tests, to establish what is wrong.. WE CANNOT...

BRNG YOU CAT TO THE VET ASAP. HAVE A BLOOD TEST DONE - IT TAKES ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO GET THE RESULTS BACK. YOUR CAT MAY HAVE KIDNEY FAILURE WHICH ARE THE SIGNS YOU ARE GIVING. YOUR CAT RELIES ON YOU SO PLEASE DO WHATEVER YOU CAN - LIFE IS PRECIOUS - THE LONGER YOU WAIT, THE MORE THE OUTCOME WILL BE BAD FOR THE CAT. AND THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP AT THAT POINT. THE BLOOD TEST WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW SICK YOUR CAT IS AND THEN YOU CAN MAKE THE DECISION, ALONG WITH THE VET, AS WHAT TO DO NEXT. GODD LUCK - YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS.

I would definitely take your cat to a vet. Your vet will advise on how to treat your cat or god forbid, the alternative. I know the worry you're experiencing and hope everything turns out ok.

Take him to the vet immediatley, it sounds as if he might have diabetes which causes cats to lose weight rapidly as well as getting sick and drinking a ton more water than they used to. It is very important that you get him to the vet to determine if it is a treatable problem (like diabetes) or something else. good luck

14 is not that old. Take him to the vet to get checked out; it might be an easy fix.
