i've seen a lot of atheists getting angry over God now days and it really frightens me because if they don't like God then they should just let it be and ignore him but it seems like they are in the dark.

jeeze chad, seems like atheists resort to violence for their problem. i'm glad people who believe in jesus aren't like this.

agree with you sisterzeal. all of these atheists always blame God for their problems saying he wouldn't leave them alone, and yet they say where is proof that he exist? how can they say leave them alone when they say they don't exist.

everyday i see atheists who talk crap about God and won't leave Christians and Catholics alone. and yet they say they are the ones that are not leaving them alone.

it gives me the chills, i really think the atheists are possessed by demons, they're saying LEAVE ME ALONE! it kind of reminds me of that leave britney alone video. i hope not all atheists look like that one dude in that leave britney alone video.

if people who are not mad at God are not atheists then how come atheists always talk crap about God trying to tell others that he don't exist, we already believe in God and you can't change who we are and yet you atheists are saying leave us alone when you're the ones that won't leave us alone and you seem so mad at God after we told you that we believe in Jesus.

it's interesting to see how quickly the ATHEISTS are up exploiting this tragedy, by spinning the facts, and ignoring the root causes.

and you cant make them see it. They refuse to see a connection with the absence of God and the presence of evil.
Its denial at its highest height.

That kid resorted to violence because he has no faith system. People are just walking talking blobs of molecules to be 'splattered' like the Columbine kids said. You combine a teenager (who already cant see past junior year) and the absence of any belief in God (who IS love, peace, understanding, longsuffering, kindness) and you get crazed individuals using a gun to solve their problems. Atheists have no answer when it comes to preventing tragedy.

Their view offers no HOPE.

I'll tell you all what the problem was.....I know some of you can relate. When I was in middle school I was picked on and left to be a loner. I was pushed aside by the "rich kids, the cheerleaders and the jocks" My friends where the weirdos as you would call them. It does something to you. It makes you angry, It makes you want to hurt others for the way they hurt you. Me? I handled it, I believe I was my own, unique expression of the creator. Some people do not "handle it" as well and react out of hate for the people that hurt them.

So maybe everyone should flip the coin, put the shoe on the others foot and try a little compassion for the loners who are tormented everyday with a feeling of isolation. The kid acted out in the best way he could considering HIS outcome.

So next time you see someone not up to your standards talk to them, show them it's okay to different, acknowledge them, give a them a hug or a smile. it could save a life!

Actually, his statements give no indication that he did not believe in the existence of God. He said he worshiped Marilyn Manson. That isn't atheism.

It's interesting to see how quickly the Christians are up exploiting this tragedy, by spinning the facts, and ignoring the root causes.

ADDENDUM:
Spin is altering the facts to make them fit your agenda. What you have described is not atheism, no matter how hard you hit it to fit it into the mold. You weren't the first. The altered quotes started coming out before your pathetic attempt at exploitation.

Despite your empty efforts to try to reverse my statement, the facts don't support you.
If I did any spin, it was upon your question, so apparently your question was tragically flawed.

The "Root causes" of this had NOTHING to do with his being atheist.
The root causes were mental illness, incessant bullying (by his "Christian" classmates), lack of good parenting, lack of protection from the school administrators from the vicious attacks this kid received on a daily basis, and a whole host of other things that had NOTHING to do with his lack of religious beliefs.
Why do you people need to automatically jump up and start declaring that it was his non-belief in God that was the sole cause of this? Do you not realize how ignorant it is to simplify something in such a narrow way? Do you not see how wrong, arrogant, and self-serving it is to USE a situation like this to further your religious agenda?
There are plenty situations like this that were perpetuated by Christians, too. But we don't hear you talk about THEM. And as for "Christians don't react with violence?" What about the Christian kids who severely beat this kid for saying "F*** God?" THEY weren't reacting with violence? What about the Christians who bomb abortion clinics? Don't try to claim that Christians aren't violent, because that's an outright lie. And there ARE Christians who have shot up schools. (The most recent one being Virgina Tech.) You people just tend to not talk about it when it's one of your own.
If atheism in and of itself was the "cause" of this, then all atheists would be psychotic killers.
Use your heads, and stop using this tragedy to further your own ignorance, and to spread fear and hate against people who don't share your religious beliefs. How DARE you suggest that *atheists* are exploiting this. As soon as it hit the news that the kid said he didn't believe in God, every fundie Christian started high-fiving each other and posting questions about why atheists all shoot up schools. (Your question included.) They're so happy about this that they're beside themselves. It's sick. It's the Christians who are falling over themselves pointing fingers and exploiting this, not atheists.

I think that that gunman and other people who commit similar acts have serious mental illnesses. At that Ohio school, the gunman had a history of explosive anger and violence against others, even his own mother. At Virginia tech, the gunman was previously hospitalized for severe depression and is speculated to have had Aspergers Syndrome or Selective mutism. I don't think religion or lack thereof has anything to do with these unfortunate events. I think this is a mental health issue and security issue. They say that the Ohio gunman said that he would do this, but no one took him seriously. Clearly, they shouldn't taken him seriously.

This particular incident has nothing to do with "God. What was a 14 year old boy going through ,in his life that would want him to kill others and kill himself. He must have been terribly anhappy and I bet you anything, that he was been bullied in the school. Some teenagers live their whole life being unhappy and sad because of the environment they live in, the school they go to and the problems in their family. If he did quote "God" in a negative way, I can guarantee you that he was going through some kind of "hell" in his life, all round, not just in his religious upbringing.Since fear creeps into many religious teachings, there could be that connection but I feel his life was in utter turmoil, and he couldn't take anymore of whatever was going on around him, especially in school. Please, please let bullying be stopped in schools.

I have to pull out something you Christians tell us all the time... just because he said he's an atheist doesn't mean he was one. Sounds to me like he was anti-god, not an atheist.

Atheists don't hate god... they don't believe god exists. There's a huge difference.

Also, remember that the guy who shot the Amish girls was a Christian (Lutheran) and the BK Killer was a Christian as well.

What one identifies as spiritually has no bearing on what they will do in this life. Anyone can crack, regardless of their beliefs.

I think that kids beliefs about God or the lack there of had very little to do with his actions. Sometimes the mentally ill will latch on to whatever they feel will give meaning to or justify their behaviors. Or, they'll pick something they know will cause others to take a stand.

If you read the article, you should notice several things such as he worshiped a rock star, had mental problems, and was likely abused. I'd say that anyone reading the article and focusing on atheism as a major factor needs to review how to determine causes and effects.

this kid was not an atheist...he claimed to worship manson, atheists worship NOTHING. If he said he hates god...he's not an atheist either, atheists don't hate what does not exist.

I guarantee you, he was raised christian.

you're statement that christians aren't violent is so inaccruate and stupid, that I will just point out ONE example: the Inquisition. There are THOUSANDS more...pick up a book some time that doesn't say "bible".
