I would get it before you move or give it time. You don't want the older cat to associate the new house with the cat. Cats can be territorial and you don't want the oder one pissing all over because he associates the house with the new cat.

Hi, Is your cat neutered? Is the new cat male or female? They should be introduced before the move. If you sit with new cat on lap and speak softly older cat will relize there is a new family member. Has new cat been tested for leukima and feline aids? Both highly contagious. Expect the new one to be scared and the male a bully. It's natural. Usually takes a couple weeks to become friends for them. Health is the main issue here. No fleas, worms, etc. 5 minutes of playtime with both everyday is helping to socialize. A soft robe belt with you getting them to catch it is what I do . Also feed at same time together but seperate dishes. I have 7 cats and do cat rescue with several groups . Hope this helps If you move before the new cat arrives, the older cat will know he is the Alfa. Expect hissing, growling. etc. It's natural in the cat family

Moving is a huge deal for a cat. Please see this info: http://www.catsplay.com/thedailycat/2003-05-26/mind_psyche/moving/moving.html.

I am thinking getting the new cat right away would be best since no territory will be claimed at the time. Make sure you still go through the introduction process with them. Here is some info on that: http://cats.about.com/cs/catmanagement101/a/introducecats.htm

Either way, both experiences will be stressful for your cat. Just be patient and show your kitty lots of love and attention. Make sure to associate the new house and the new kitty with positive things.

Either get one at your old house and let them adjust there. It takes around 3-6 weeks. Or wait until your cat adjust to the new house then you can get a new one.

Oh it is so exciting naming a cat! listed right here are some names I considered when I have been given my kitty some months in the past: Nala Raja Simba Mufasa Fluffy Jasmine Tiger Lily (she has stripes) I asked YA for recommendations, yet maximum human beings suggested I wait and permit her character call her . . . when I introduced her abode, I observed that she became finished of potential. She ran at rapid velocity, so I named her rapid, yet we call her Turbie (sometime we call her omit T). this way of lovable cat call, isn't it?

You should never put two cats together that aren't familiar with each other. See below....
