I think a good rule to follow is if she's correcting a mistake that she made, you should not tip again. If she's tweaking things a bit out of courtesy, yes then you should tip her. But for correcting blotches, no.

I had my hair colored and cut. It took 4 hours and the back was all messed up. An ombré hair nightmare. It took her 3 tries and 4 hours to fix it. I already paid $215 with a tip for this so I didn't feel like I should tip again. I tipped well the first time but had my hair been correct the first time, I wouldn't have had to go back. I had no idea it would take another 4 hours to fix it.

No, a thank you is all that is nessesary. My hair does not always take to color well because it is so dark, so I've had to go back for a lot of fixes with many hairdresser. Some are jerks when you come back, but most understand and prefer to correct the mistake. So, the thank you is mostly for them not being a jerk and doing their jobs well.

Yes...peoplke make mistakes. In that industry it's very tough I have seen people try hard to make people who want to look their best.. I always recommend getting a good relationship with a stylist that knows you well and listens. It is a service industry, maybe she is new. It sounds like they are trying to rectify the error. If I had to send food back in a restaraunt but the service was good and the staff accomidating I would reward the effort with a tip. The same rules apply here.

If you can afford it, yes. If it was the same girl who worked on your hair yesterday, she will probably work doubly hard to win back your patronage, and would not care if you tip or not, she might just want to keep her clientele happy.

Tip only if you want to, and in this particular occasion and circumstance, anything you do merely defines you as one classy lady more than anything else.

No way. She should do it for free. If she doesn't ask to talk to the salon manager. She made a mistake and she should fix it. Tipping her would be like saying "Thanks I really appreciate you messing up my hair. Here's some money for doing such a good job."

it depends on whether you are going to continue to be her customer. If you feel she is not good enough and you are going to take your business to another hairdresser, then you don't have to tip. If you don't know her well enough to know whether she expects you to tip, then it's probably better to find another hairdresser.

I don't think you would be expected to tip, but it would be nice if you did tip them, I mean, it would be really stupid if they didn't fix your hair, so you should be glad they are going to, so you should probably tip them.

Not if she is the one that made the mistake. But if you go to another hair dresser then yes.
