Drink lots of water (but not so much that you feel ill!) and eat at least 38 grams of fiber every day. If you have trouble having a bowel movement, try prunes and prune juice- they're famous for their natural laxative effect. You can also try drinking coffee or tea in the morning with breakfast. Eating breakfast and ingesting caffeine will help stimulate your bowels to get moving. Exercise boosts your metabolism and also gets your guts moving around.

You should also try to get yourself into a routine. Some people have a bm every day at a certain time, some people have one every 3 days... Figure out what your schedule is, and allow yourself a day or two of leeway, especially when you travel or try a new type of food.

If you experience constipation for more than a few days, or if it becomes painful, you should probably see a doctor.

If you don't mind taking pills, and are constipated, you can take a stool softener. (like colace, and can be found over the counter) This is NOT the same as a laxitive, it does not give you the urge to have the BM only softens it to ease passing. Otherwise, limit your diet to fruits and veggies for a day or two and drink lots of water.

fruit and veggies will help but you should take fiber pills or just eat food that is high in fiber! Fiber is natural substance that cleans your bowels and promotes regular bowel movements. Make sure to drink alot of water too, if your dehydrated your body will work harder to try and retain as much water as it can before allowing you to have a bowel movement.

Bowl movement? Damn if I know.

But bowel movement is another thing. Whenever I get plugged up I just take a look at one of my ex-wives. Scares the crap right out of me.

Drink more water. Try for at least 32 oz. per day. More will help.

Eat more fruit, too. Prunes, apples, plums, pears, oranges will all help.

I really wish I could help, but all I can think of that hasn't been disproved by what you said is stress. Stress can really screw a person up. Ask her how stressed she is
