I have just started ground school and will begin taking flying lessons soon, working towards a private pilot's license. I was looking in buying a new headset for myself and was wondering if any of you any good recommendations for a first time pilot. The price range I am looking for is between $0-$250.
Thanks for your input!

If your just starting out buy David Clark headsets. You can get a fairly good on for about $150-200. But if you want the best, than go with the $1,000 Bose, which is what I use. but look up www.sportys.com
But do not listen to these other people telling you to get Bose, David Clark works just fine. I'm just saying Bose is the best,, but don't wast your money on a $1,000 headset, instead use that $1,000 for your lesions... I hope I was a help to you... Good luck and have fun on becoming a pilot....

While you may feel that $500 is a lot of money to spend on a headset, don't sell yourself short. Unlike some other products, the more money that you spend on a headset, the better of a product you are going to get. Comfort, quality, and durability should be much more important than price. You'll be better off in the long run to buy a great headset now than to buy an OK one and have to upgrade later.

Personally, I like the Lightspeed headsets. They run about $500-$600 but they are monumentally comfortable, and they come with a great warranty. The ear seals are easy to replace, so it will last you a lifetime with good care. Plus, the ANR version is VERY quiet. David Clark also makes some good headsets, but I would be sure to buy ANR if you plan to fly a lot.

Don't skimp on quality for an aviation headset. Once your hearing has been damaged, you'll never get it back.

If you can afford it, BOSE makes an excellent noise-canceling headset. Otherwise, look at David Clark's headsets. They are some of the most reliable. Sporty's pilot shops have some good prices.

Well, looking at reality something tells me you won't find one for $0, but I got a headset for Christmas that was I think $150. It's an AvComm, and the model number is AC454P. It's a great headset for your first one. I would highly recommend it.

Yes Bose are great, but my green ones get me the same clearances and cost about 700 hundred less. Get a pair of david clarks, they have some for about 200 bucks that are good. Later when you have lots of money to spend get some bose other wise you will have a great headset, but no money to spin a prop.

that is pretty cheap. TELEX is the best bet at that price range. They are good headsets and will last. But as above Bose X headsets are the best I have used.

I would suggest that you check out www.sportys.com they sell everything aviation and you will find out all you need to know about headsets there. Also I would ask you instructor as to what they suggest for your training.
