A friend of ours always borrows things from use but she never takes care of them and always returns out borrowed items damaged. To make a long story short I want to show her some courtesy about borrowing things from people. Thanks

Make her pay for the stuff that she damages, she will learn how to take care of your stuff. Or just stop lending things to her.

If telling her the rules of borrowing things doesn't work, calculate about how much money the damaged objects would cost to replace. Then tell her the dollar amount. If she still doesn't get it, decide which is more important - the friendship or the objects. Replace the items if need be, then give her the old ones and tell her now that she has them, she won't have a need to borrow any more.

If you want to show her some courtesy about borrowing stuff from people, borrow something from her and return it in perfect condition. Lead by example. Next time she asks to borrow something, ask her to return it in good condition as you will be using it yourself soon. If she returns it in poor condition, stop lending her things. She'll get the picture.

My mom always told me that when you go somewhere, the place should look exactly the same or better when you leave- don't leave any traces you were there. I think that the same principle applys to borrowing stuff. It should be in exactly the same condition when you give it back.

I would let her know that you like helping her out and letting her borrow things but you aren't going to be able to keep doing that if she can't properly care for your things. It's just disrespectful towards you guys.

ok um.. this would be a pretty blunt way of doing it but anyway.

1. Take care of the stuff. I mean, this is obvious though. Don't get it dirty or break it... and if you do, wash it or replace it!
2. If it's clothes you're borrowing, wash them.
3. Be sure to get it back to them on time. Tel them for how long you need it, and get it back to them when you say you will. If you need it longer, be sure to tell them BEFORE you were supposed to give it back. And if they get kinda mad at you and give you a deadline... meet it.
4. Say thanks when you borrow the item, and when you give it back. Say thanks a lot. And maybe even sorry sometimes!
5. If you lose it, replace it. OR if it can't be replaced.. be honest about it!

I'm not sure what she is borrowing, but next time she asks to borrow something, just tell her how much it means to you or how you've really taken care of it and that's why it still looks new.

I let some of my co-workers borrow DVDs, Cd's and once my portable DVD player....and every time I'm about to hand it to them I say...."I want it back in the same condition I give it to you".... then I tell them ...."don't make me have to remind you that you borrowed it""...or..... "don't make me have someone waiting for you by your car"......they always give me that look....but I always get my things back in a reasonable amount of time and in the same condition.....I would never do anything to anyone....and the people who have known me longer know I'm just messing

Just tell her that SHE could show some courtesy after borrowing something, by returning it unscathed, or you are going to quit loaning your things to her. You have to let her know how you feel or your going to be harboring hurt feelings, which could make you sick!

I don't really think it's your place to teach your friend a lesson. In the future if she wants to borrow from you you can either say, "No, I'm sorry, I can't bear to part with it." or give it to her outright. Sometimes borrowing between friends can go bad.

If you borrow something, make sure it goes back in exactly the same state you took it in.
If you break something that you borrowed. Replace it
