I break out into hives whenever the weather gets cold and the temperatures start to drop. At first, I would get welts on my elbows, backof my hands, and my feet. But last night, I found that it's spreading to my knees and just today I saw they got to my legs too. It's a very itchy feeling I get at first and then I start scratching. Then the welts appear and you can see after they go down where the welts were. Sometimes welts don't appear at all. It's just red spots that look like mosquito bites when they aren't.

Make bicarbonate of soda and warm water into a paste and spread it on the affected areas. Very messy but stops the itching and, unlike steroid cream which may be given to you by a doctor, it doesn't thin the skin. You could also ask your G.P. to refer you to an allergy specialists for allergy tests, but they often come back inconclusive.

I have a lot of allergies, so I take benadryl whenever I have a breakout of hives. But I don't know if it works for that kind of hives. That's kinda neat, although I expect it's just aggravating for you.

I have Lupus and get a similiar rash. Not to scare you but, maybe check with Dr? My rash can leave scares sometimes and for those I use apple cider vinager, it works wonders. As far as the hives I would try and benedryl that anti itch lotion.
Good luck
