So tomorrow I am making homemade chili. I already have everything for it and what not but what would be a good side dish to go with it?

one or more of these:
- Cornbread
- Tortilla chips (dipping in chili is gooood)
- Cheese curls (dipping in chili is gooood)
- Cottage cheese (believe it or not, they go good together)
- Rice (chili on top is gooood)
- Spaghetti (chili on top is gooood)
- Baked potatos (chili on top is gooood)
- Fresh fruit, not citrus (chili on top is *not* good though)

(can you tell I like chili?)

I agree with cornbread. It isnt chili without it. Either that or get a loaf of homemade bread and serve warm with cinnamon butter. You know the kind that tastes so good at Brans Steakhouse. It is by country crock I believe and is a small tub found in the margarin sections at grocery stores.

I know that cornbread is 'the' thing to go with chili but I always make home-made sour dough bread and make sure I bake it so I can take it out of the oven and then eat it with the chili shortly after!

I also like a dollop of (vegan) sour cream with my bean chili.

How about a nice light salad? My favorite is spinach salad. I use those bags of spinach from the market.
Throw spinach in a big bowl
Add: 1/2 chopped red onion
Handful of chopped mint leaves
One can of mandarin orange slices (drained of course)
Handful of halved walnuts
Toss with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Now heres the trick! Wet a paper towel with cold water and squeeze out excess water. Cover salad with the wet paper towel and place in the freezer for about 5-8 minutes. This will plump up all the ingredients and make it really refreshing. I think this would go really well with hot spicy chili!
Enjoy!

Double cornbread and a fresh green salad. Lots of butter for the cornbread.

When having chilli at home we have grilled cheese sandwiches or pimento cheese sandwiches or cheese toast (slice of bread, slice of cheese, toasted in the oven until the cheese starts to bubble or turn brown. I like the brown ones, the kids don't.

If I were taking it somewhere cornbread sounds like a good choice.

or corn chips and shredded cheese or sliced cheese
