Interesting point of view, but the whole reasoning behind making drugs illegal in the first place is because they are so harmful - if you took that away, i really don't think it would do anything to regulate the flow of illicit substances in our society. In fact, what you would take away is the mental barrier that we have wrt drugs, and they would become more acceptable, and therefore, very probably, more widely used. They are harmful, plain and simple, and while they may definitely have short term appeal they have devastating side effects that cannot be taken lightly. I am speaking from experience here. The argument that alcohol is also harmful is true, but the effects of psychotropics are different - they act on our mental and social function, causing such ilnesses as depression, schizophrenia, etc.

Thank God I don't live in North Wales with Police Chiefs like him around. If they made drugs legal it would mean his force would be able to spend more time hounding the motorists who are an easy target in order to appease the government for reaching their targets.

Wec are all entitled to our opinion, but a person in such a powerful position should understand the ramifications of his actions. He probably thinks that David Eyck is the Messiah.

Please read the Report in full - all 30 pages of it.
You will see the logic behind his Proposals. Like you all, I have my doubts about some of his decisions but this merits a read. You will get it on the North Wales Police site and it is in the 'blog' section.

You sound like the sort of person who knows nothing about drugs yes?
Perhaps before passing judgement you should try to understand the following fact:
- DESPITE the prohibition of drugs, they are GROWING in popularity.
This is because people such as myself see them as legitimate additives which can (and in my case are) be used on a moderate basis with no ill effects on myself or society. Would you ban cars because you can't legislate to stop some idiots misusing them?? They kill more people than drugs do.
They are a PART of society and always will be therefore we should accept it and regulate it. Simple.

Get a grip on the facts before shooting your ill-informed mouth off.

He's mental (allegedly!). Richard Littlejohn calls him the "Mad Mullah of the Traffic Taliban", which I think is amusingly apt.

I think he's spot on. It's obvious the current way of controlling drugs doesn't work.
