I've been wearing glasses for around 7-8 months. The doctor said I should wear them only when I can't see... Like the white-board in school. And I did that...
Recently I started to get really worried about my vision. My glasses are -1 diopter (I can't see far) And I'm worried they could increase... So today is the second day I wear them all the time. All day at home. Even in front of the computer. They have antireflex... Not sure in english but it's for when you work on the computer.
Is that good? Will it help me increase my vision? What should I do? I'm scared cause I use the computer 4-5 hours a day. Is it too much? Should I wear the glasses while using it? Should I take any meds? CAN MY VISION INCREASE OR CAN IT ONLY GET WORSE? Is laser eye surgery dangerous? How much is it worth!
Thanks a lot! God bless you.

Relax, dude...
( I know this is probably wrong and out-of-date teen-speak, but it's the best I can do. I'm old. )
In roughly the order you laid it out...
One dioptre isn't impressive, I hit -14.00
It *is* likely to increase until you stop growing. (somewhere between 18 and 22, usually)
You will have been going short-sighted pretty much since you were born, having come into this world somewhere near +2.00 or +3.00, if you were average.
There's not much to be done about it, with an exception I'll mention in a moment.
Wearing them all the time isn't helping you in that respect.
Since in *some* people excessive closework done excessively close *can* make myopic tendencies worse, UNLESS they are really making your eyes more comfortable, you are marginally better taking your glasses off for closework.
For computer and reading, use the longest working distance that's reasonable for posture and vision. Take short breaks to re-establish your distance focus. Ten minutes every hour, or thereabouts.
No, you don't need meds.
Horror of horrors, a good diet with vitamins and minerals, and especially dark green leafy vegetables: broccoli, spinach, Brussels sprouts... is generally recommended, but not especially for short sighted people. It's true for everyone's eyes.
Yes, I have seen -ve Rx's disappear, but it's rare.
Don't bank on it.
Laser surgery does involve a degree of calculated risk that most people appear to accept in return for the benefit.
But it's not really something to consider until your Rx has been stable for at least two years, so not till early 20's as a rule.

Do not worry too much! You're living in America, one of the highly developed country in the world. I lived many years in (so called) a barely developing country & had eye surgery twice there. About 17 years ago. Surgery is a good option. My vision was really bad. Mine was -6.9 range for both eyes. After surgery I have not had a pair of glasses for 17 years. These days I use a pair of glasses (antireflex type) when I only use computer, since I am an internet junkie. Good luck.

Your vision will never really get better, it will either stay at the same level, or it will slightly decrease as time goes on. Wearing contact lenses helps slightly, but unfortunetly nothing is going to help your sight get better. As far as the laser eye surgery, it is not a good idea for you because your vision is only slightly impaired (you only have to wear your glasses when you can't see something). you should wear your glassess while on the computer, so your eyes aren't straining so much. Age is also a factor in having to wear glassess.

Ok, well my eye doctor told me to do the same thing. I have a very funny perscription. After about a week, I called my dr. and told her that I needed to wear them all the time in order to be able to see and get rid of the headachs. For me, it was worth it and you should talk to your Dr. before makeing any kind of decision. Your eyes may get a bit worse, for example mine did get a little worse when I was due for a new perscription as our eye sight also changes with age. As far as the laser surgery... although I really think that it is helpfull...something about the thought of having to spend a couple of grand and sign a release saying that I may go blind and its not their fault is a problem for me. I would not do eye surgery unless it is to the point where I really needed it. Good luck.

The problem with glasses is that they tend too make the eyes dependent with time. To answer your question about getting better or worse, it can only get worse with time. As for laser surgury, there are many hospitals in the US that will not do it due too it's lack of success in many cases.
