My girlfriend wants to put a complaint in and we dont know how to do it or who to contact.

She has been back to the GP 3 times in the past 8 months with the same problem and they keep giving her the same treatment everytime.....antibiotics!!
It works for a bit but then comes back, its causing my girlfriend pain.

Its a small lump around by her coxix(tail bone) just down inbetween the top of her bumcheeks, It swells up and she has trouble sleeping and sitting, I would have thought they would have sent her to the hospital to have it removed or something.

But now she has had enough and wants to take it further as to why she hasnt been refered.

Dr Frank you here? Anyone help thanks

*******hiya, it definatly sounds like a Pilonidal (Abscess, Cyst, Sinus, Dimple)which is an abscess in the natal cleft (more commonly referred to as your butt crack) that tends to become infected and cause intense pain and drainage. Sometimes a Pilonidal contains hair and sometimes they don't.

Tell your gf to read the website below and arm herself with the treatments, then make another appointment.

At least if she kinda of knows what she's talking about he may take more notice and use a differant treatment

It is called the General Medical Council. Also your Local Primary Care Trust is technically your GP's boss.

Go to A and E and explain that the pain is unendurable and that your girlfriend cannot wait to see her GP again.
Then go to The General Medical Council with a complaint against your GP's conduct.

General Medical Council - but start by demanding a referral to the relevant Consultant.

Try the General Medical Council. Good luck, and I'd ask for a second opinion if I were her.

Your next stop is the Area Health Authority. They have a complaints department - and they've probably got a web site.
