Classically I have preferred Chrysler, especially with older cars (pre-80) or with modern trucks. They have been ergonomic, reliable, and I like the style. However, the quality of not just Chrysler but all American cars has fallen behind. I now have a Ford Ranger and the only good thing about the truck is the durable and reliable engine, which is build by Nissan.
People pay 5k more for the Lincoln because it is simply a higher class of car. The Ford name has never said luxury or quality, Lincoln always has. The best cars are German or Japanese.

Interesting question, I've had older Ford models and (Bronco II, 92 Explorer) I've always liked the Mercury Mountaineer which is just a like the Explorer with my exterior options. I do like the MKX (new Aviator) and the Edge which looks just alike. Although these three are automobiles are like branded together, something to me just stands out about a Lincoln. I saw both a Creme Brulee Edge and a MKX (same color) in a showroom and I couldn't chose between the two because I liked what I saw in both, although I will say the MKX looks classier and luxurious and I think that what makes a individual chose one over than other - well, at least for me-:) I have a GM Envoy now and I'm looking at the MKX as my next suv. It's nice, smooth, quiet ride, beautiful interior and it just LOOKS classy. That's my three cents.

Ford, Lincoln and Mercury have one company in common: FORD! "Fix Or Repair Daily" or "Found On The Road Dead". If I had to choose b/w those three, Mercury would be "it". Overall I like Toyota and Honda (tie). Proven reliability and endurance. Chevy's not too bad anymore either.

Because it FOUND ON ROAD DEAD! A Ford isn't going to hold up like a lincoln. WOuldnt you rather have a car that was $5000.00 but will retain it's value just a little more, has lil more power and will last much longer.

I like old school american fords and chevys. But if you were going to consider the market that is available to you, i live in New Zealand so we get the australasian fords, which i personally dont like at all. So considering the market that is available to me, chevy.

Looking for logic in actions of those who buy ford, lincoln, chevy, etc. is counterproductive. Try chewing tobacco instead.

BMW all the way. If you've ever driven one, you'd know exactly why.
If I had to pick a domestic, it'd be GM
