Following is a short staory that talks about the nature of Heaven - http://www.boomerangtags.com/gates.html

Do any Catholics know of a similar kind of story that speaks of the nature of Purgatory?

I will be more than glad to report and block anyone who argues that there is no Purgatory. Save it for another question.

I am simply blocking people who take the opportunity of an honest question to bash the Catholic faith.

If I were to ask a question about the validity of Purgatory, I would welcome different and contrary opinions.

I asked a question earlier about whether people agree with the Popes call for communities to pray together and I received two replies that did not answer the question, but bashed the Pope and catholics. Those people deserve to be blocked.

It's my understanding that Pope's Paul VI, John Paul, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI do not put much into Purgatory. None have *infallibly* denied the existence of Purgatory; however request that the focus be on Heaven & Hell above Purgatory.

This is an absolutely beautiful story . Strangely the description of the farm land and flowers etc has always been by vision of Heaven. even as a young child that is the way I imagined and hoped that Heaven would be .
I think I would be tempted to roam around this description of purgatory for a little longer !

This is a great story. I have seen an episode of Twilight Zone that followed this story. The most famous story of purgatory to me would be Lazarus and the rich man and of course where Jesus went and preached to those in Purgatory when he died

The closest I know to a story about Purgatory is C. S. Lewis's book, The Great Divorce.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Divorce

The problem with both your dog story and The Great Divorce is that both imagine that decisions can be made after death. But after death comes judgment--all decisions have been made. For most Christians, purgatory is a time of purification and purging, a preparation for heaven.

Cheers,
Bruce

I am Catholic but not a devout practicing Catholic and I believe there is a purgatory. I even seen a movie by that name a few years ago. I don't think it is fair of you to block people that don't agree with you though. Everyone has a right to an opinion, even if it is an opinion you don't agree with.

The Purgatory was an invention made by the church in the middle age. That time the church needed a kind of place where the money could be used to save the people who has in this place. Than the church invented the Purgatory as a place where the money could be used to save the people who has in that place. With a lot of money donated to the church anyone could go out of the Purgatory and go to the Heaven. This was the form used by the church to get money from the people!!!!
