I have no clue what the percentage is. Judging by the responses so far, it would seem fairly high. I personally don't sniff the book, but I enjoy the aroma of a newly-printed, never-opened book.

I could not venture to guess at the percentage, I can only offer the anecdotal evidence that I sniff new books that I read, as well as very old books that I read.

(Don't see this as an R&S question, but I'll answer anyway)
I don't know how many other people do, but I love the smell of a book, old or new. The mustiness of an old book gives me the idea that it has it's own character somehow. And the crisp smell of a new book makes me feel honoured to be the first person to gain knowledge and enjoyment from its pages. I know, I know, I'm corny at best, and crazy according to most, but I am what I am!

Probable a low percentage. Most people draw in the scent of aged books as it is a well aged smell. Like an aged wine. Old books have the scent that is enticing, a new book is more of an homogeneous smell of fresh cut paper!

That's a truly good question. I don't know the percentage. But I do sniff a new book. I don't exactly know why but they smell good.Are you bored or really intelligent?

Many years ago when I was about six years old my parents went away and this lady was taking careof me and she had a fit if I sniffed a newspaper, magazine, new book, etc. One day she caught me sniffng a book and slapped me so hard across the face I fell down. To this day I can't figure out why.

I love that "new book smell." The paper smells good. (At least I think it's the paper... I don't really know.)
