World's oldest wall painting unearthed in Syria
DAMASCUS (Reuters) - French archaeologists say they have excavated an 11,000-year-old wall painting in red, black and white in northern Syria which they describe as the oldest in the world, although it resembles a modern work.
The 2-square-metre painting was found below ground at the Neolithic settlement of Djade al-Mughara on the Euphrates, northeast of the city of Aleppo, mission head Eric Coqueugniot told Reuters.
"It looks like a modernist painting. Some of those who saw it have likened it to work by Klee. Through carbon dating we established it is from around 9000 B.C.," Coqueugniot said.

There are many things on this earth that are older than 6000 years but that does not change the fact the rebirth of earth and the creation of man took place less than 6000 years ago. whoever painted that picture or built the sphinx is not related to you or me they are from the old earth that operated on a different law of physics where evolution branched in many directions and animals and plants were huge how long that earth lasted is only a guess you put too much trust in a dating system that operates in this world and law of physics which is different than the world before. how many years old is earth, first prove what a year was then compared to the year now. yes dinosaurs lived here as other life forms but not related to us, everyone keeps calling heads or tails (evolution or creation) it is not either but it is both. the whole world was at the creation of modern man covered in water and darkness it makes sense in so many ways.for instance all dinosaurs are dead but pre historic water creatures live on and are discovered alive today because they survived in deep water.the very shape of the pyramids suggest a design to avoid being washed away. the oldest living tree on this planet is a bristle cone pine ruffly 5000 years old. so if a tree can live thousands of year including through the dark ages then why not 10,000 years, because everything that lives on the surface that could not go deep into the earth or deep into the sea perished less than 6000 years ago. and all the land dwellers as well as Man was reborn during what is called creation.

Creative days are a longer period of time from other days or the days referred to in 2 Peter 3:8 of a 1,000 years.
Plus, the Bible shows one creative day ending and another beginning. We have no idea how much time was involved between the days. A carpenter or someone crafting something does not generally count drying, cooling, or resting time involved in the process of making something.
Now there is still quite a few problems with Carbon-14 dating methods. But there could still be good reason for believing this planet and universe is millions of years old.

Who said the earth was 6000 years old? I know a lot of Christians believe this but don't forget God's time is different than ours. In His time ther actually is no time. Eternal, timeless.
I've seen Klee's work. I would imagine it wouldn't be hard for an ancient being to have the same type of talent as that. Your not talking Michaelangelo. ( although I do respect Klee)

Obviously the universe is older than 6000 years, this is just one bit of proof - archeology, geology, evolutionary biology, physics - None of them are compatible with biblical literalism which is, for want of a better word - stupid.
As others have stated the earth itself is 4.54 billion years old and the universe is 13.7 billion years old. Reality has more wonder and grandeur than any human fable.
Humans have been as intelligent as they are now for about 100,000 years. As for those people who complain that carbon dating is inaccurate beyond 14,000 years they seem to have missed the point that there are numerous other types of radiological dating with elements with longer half-lifes which are accurate over longer periods.
A link would be nice?

As you can see from a couple of the answers above, your attempt to convert people who believe in the medieval interpretation of the earth's age will always fail. Those who believe that are not interested in and will never agree with scientific evidence.

If you can believe that there is a painting 11000 years old then you have no problem believing most anything they come up with. The Bible does not say that the earth is 6000 years. It very plainly says that God made one heaven and one earth in the beginning and then He destroyed it with water when Satan was cast out onto it. When was the beginning? The earth has been here forever, ever how long that is. Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1: 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

"Through carbon dating" is the key.
What element messes up the accuracy of carbon dating by its affects on carbon? Answer: Water. What scientifically confirmed event occurred about 4,000 years ago? A global flood where everything got thoroughly soaked and remained so for 40 days. When carbon comes in contact with water, it makes things appear older than they really are, in some cases, much older.
