Charades. Make a list of common book titles, song titles, movie titles. Write them on slips of paper. Each child takes a turn pulling a slip out of a bowl and acting it out. No sounds may be used at all, They can start by holding up fingers to show how many words in the title, and by using prearranged signs for each category, such as two hands opened to show it is a book. You can play teams or individuals. Have a time limit, such as 3 minutes. The person who correctly guesses gets 1 point, and the person doing the acting gets 2, if their title is guessed.

Bowling. Use 2-liter drink bottles, for older children weight them by filling with an inch of sand. Set them up and bowl down with a light weight ball (you don't want it to be too easy).Each player gets 2 tries to get all the pins down. Count the pins as 1 point each, and they get a bonus of 2 points if they get them all in 2 tries and 3 points if they get them in one try.

Memory. Using a regular deck of cards, choose ten pairs (2 each of Ace down through 5) Shuffle and place face down in five rows of four cards. One person turns over two cards, attempting to find two that match. When they make a match take that pair out, and the person or team making the match gets a point. When they don't make a match the cards are turned back over. Players have to use their memory to remember where they saw certain cards. As they get better, you can increase the number of cards you use, or add wild cards.
