I already have one 1 yr old beagle. He's a boy. I've already been looking at dogs and I want one really bad, but he likes to play with cats. Im thinking about just finding a cat that gets along with dogs, so he wont be so lonely.

Finding a cat that gets along with dogs is difficult, unless you buy a kitten, which will adapt better than an adult one. Otherwise you will have to ask around the pet shops in town for a cat that gets along well with dogs.

But I think it would be much easier to get another dog. Cats may easily disappear from the household and never come back. However, some dogs never get along with each other too, like my Poochie and my Toby. Lol.

It's a difficult choice to make. Good luck!

Get both! The beagle sounds good and if you want to get a cat, get a kitten so that it will get used to the dog and not hate it. They'll both have fun together and you won't have too much on your hands since cats are mostly independent and the dog will have fun with the cat. Enjoy!

either is just fine..if you opt for a cat get a kitten as it'll be easier to socialize the kitten to the dog rather than an adult cat..unless you go to a shelter and select an adult cat that does get along with dogs. BUT if you do get a kitten never leave it alone with your dog until Kitty is big enough not to get hurt should your beagle play too rough with it....Good Luck

Get a cat they are cleaner than dogs and if you get a young cat it will get used to the dog do not try adopting a cat that is like 5 years old or something as it is probably afraid of dogs.
Same goes if you get a dog don't get an older dog get a puppy.

I would get a dog. Some cats will never get over the shock of a dog. A dog is much easier to make friends with your current dog. Of course if you get a puppy that will make it even easier to get them to like each other. Cats are good animals too but they tend to get run over by dogs when they play because dogs are very rough.

Cats are less responsibility...dogs get along great with cats too (most of the time). Just make sure you can roll the kitten / cat over and rub the belly - that means they'll be sweet and loving,

My cat (5 mo old) LOVES my three dogs (one small and two big dogs) and loves to pounce them and play chase.

If you get a dog, make sure that it is a dog that likes other dogs too because otherwise there might be some aggressive behavior. Same with the cat find one that won't mind sharing a home with a cat. Try experimenting with your friends pets and see what happens. Good luck.

You can try a cat, but it will still have to be socialized properly with your dog. No matter how accepting a cat is of a new situation, a different dog can really scare him and make him protectively aggressive. Make sure you introduce them slowly, wether it be a young kitten or an older adult cat.

My cats get along great with my dog - I think cats are easier to care for (compared to a new puppy) and if your dog already likes cats then get a cat.

Get whichever you wish. If you get a cat, make sure that either it's a kitten and so can be trained to get along with your beagle, or get a cat who already knows dogs.

Good luck!
