What do you think will happen if the majority of people (let's say for the sake of argument 80%) do not want amnesty and it is still given?

Do you think Americans will simply accept it and b*tch about it?

Will they attempt to impeach individuals?

Will they take the matter into their own hands (violence)?

What is your opinion?

Hopefully there would be an uprising and violence. This country needs its balls back.

Well it is a very simple answer that is to be found down an very well worn path in human history.

1) The number is actually greater than 80% that oppose the current open borders policy of the ruling elites.

2) The elites will continue to resist the will of the people.

3) 80% is a big number in a country of 300 million people

4) As was the case in many other Reviolutions like France or the one we are about to witness in Burma; the corrupt national press will continue to preach in favor of the will of the elites. This will serve only to highlight the depth of the fraud and enrage the people.

5) The courts wil attempt to take control of the process and thwart the will of the people (see Judge Breyer's ban on law enforecment and SSN's)

6) Sporadic violence will erupt in the lower economic classes. Wide spread social unrest and disastisfaction. The elites will see that this is dealt with harshly and visibly. this will force larger numbers of people to anger and action. The middle classes and political opportunist will begin to conspire and the seeds of revolution are planted.

7) At this point there will be two options; the 1st is to accept the will of the people. The 2dn is to continue down the path of the elites. At some point the elites will begin to fracture. Opportunists seeking power will openly challenge the status quo and either a new order on the issue will emerge or the level of violence and disatsifaction among the people will grow from the lower classes and into the middle classes.

This is all very predictable and is happening now. We are in stage 4 right now...

At any point that the elites feel real fear they will change but this is hard for them they have a lot of power.

Not much, you only have to look back to the 1980’s and see that, as long as its not and election year it would have been blown before the next election.

Yes, they would, a few in congress MIGHT lose their seat, but not many.

On what grounds would you impeach, they would have to have broken a law, what law would they have broken?

Some might, and some already have, the government needs to get a handle on this soon so you might start seeing a lot of violence. If the government can’t or won’t enforce the law, people might take the law into their own hands. Then they will have a problem on their hands, as more and more people lose faith in the government the more will take action and many innocent people will be caught up in it. Then the police and the government will have to take action on the citizens of the US, and that would only add to the problem and start a vicious circle and harder the government tries to control the citizen the more rebellion they will meet, the more rebellion they meet the harder they will try, etc.

I agree with Amanda. I doubt too if 80% of Americans could agree on anything. Look at all the different polls on immigration. They vary greatly depending on where the poll was taken and who the base of the poll was. I've seen polls from ranges of 80% opposed to reform to 80% for reform. So what is the true answer? How many really are for or opposed? I think that's state defined actually. More border states would be opposed than say Washington. My state is actually more PRO reform than say Texas. So no I don't see 80% being a realistic majority. Sorry

I'm afraid that Kevin may be right. We, as a people, have lost control of our ability to govern. Something is going to have to change (and it will probably be through violent revolution...change usually is) unless we want to continue to trend of a "ruling class elite". We put most of the blame on the politicians, but I think the REAL reform is going to have to come about in the judicial branch. They have no real checks and balances and, as they say -- power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Kevin's right, we need our balls back. I think we need to get our country back, and it just might take violence to do that! We, as tax paying citizens, don't mean JACK to our government, so it's up to us to do something about this invasion.

And if this International Law comes into play, I think we are REALLY going to start to see some violence. In regards to the illegal immigrant that raped and killed 2 teenage girls in Texas.

Unfortunately, people are already arming themselves against the illegal alien invasion. Our politicians don't care what the legal citizens of this great country want, they only want to please other countries and special interest groups.

I believe we will have a war on our own soil We need to defend our country against all invaders, with or without the wishes of our horrifying governmental officials.

We are heading to a new war.

And about the comment that we won't be able to tell who is legal and illegal it will be more like "Who's side are you on"

American side or illegals side.

This is getting to the point that the people will have to fight to take back our lands and then we will need to clean out our corrupt government.

First, I honestly DONT think we are heading toward amnesty.

However, in your hypothetical, I don't think there would be violence, except in rare circumstances. We are a civilized nation, and, as such, harming others does not further our cause. I would expect there would be a movement toward impeachment.

However, I can't imagine that 80% of the country would agree on ANYTHING.
