I was told that I shouldn't let my kitten go in the bathroom, is this true? I ask this because some people on here have said that I should put his litterbox in the bathroom so I am just trying to find out if it's ok for him to go in there. Thanks

Some of you are saying that the bathroom is a good place for his litterbox if I make sure its safe, his litterbox is now in our kitchen(we live in a condo) should I move it to the bathroom (which is closer to the room where he sleeps)? Also, the bathroom I would put it in is not very big so it wouldn't be able to fit a water bowl and food bowl.

i don't see any reason why your cat shouldn't go in the bathroom - just make sure you keep the loo lid shut so the cat can't jump up and fall in the loo!!

also, with regards to putting the litter tray in there - a lot of people do this, i personally do not, i don't have the room. the main requirements with litter trays is that basically they should be in an area that is not too noisy and not a walkway so the cats don't get disturbed or frightened while they are using it as this can cause an aversion to the tray and result in the cat using other areas of the house rather than the tray! i have one in a quiet corner of the kitchen, one in a cupboard in the hallway and one in an unused area of the upstairs hallway.

It is perfectly safe as long as you make it that way. Put away all cleaners and just make sure there is no where to get stuck and nothing to harm him. KEEP THE TOILET SEAT DOWN though. Seriously he could drown. Our kitten has become obsessed with not only drinking out of the toilet, but sleeping on it when the lid is down. There is no problem with the litter box being in the bathroom. Just make sure it is not too far from where he sleeps. Remember, he is still very young and small.

The thing about the bathroom is the threat of the allmighty toilet. A kitten can easily fall in there and drown (I'm not joking. I actually know someone who'se kitten drowned in the toilet). So as long as you have the lid down and the sink and tub are not filled with water it is a perfectly safe place to put a litter box.

There's no reason a kitten can't go in the bathroom but you should keep the lid down on the toilet at all times so he doesn't fall in and get hurt. You should also keep all harmful chemicals and makeups and stuff put away so he doesn't get into trouble that way. I used to have my litter box in the bathroom and never had problems.

There is absolutely no reason for your kitten not to go in the bathroom. It is an acceptable place to put the litter box if you don't mind stepping on litter when you go to the bathroom. As he gets older he will kick the litter out on the floor everytime he goes. It is quite painful in the middle of the night. You might want to think of a less used place.

Good Luck

I know lots of people who keep their litter box in their bathrooms. And when ever my son brings home a stray kitten, in the bathroom it goes to keep it separated from the rest of the zoo. Our toilet seat is always supposed to be kept close and so far no swimming but when they get a little bigger they always end up getting too curious and falling into the aquarium. Pretty funny stuff lol.

What Laurel said: If you keep the toilet lid down, the bathroom is probably the safest place in the house for your kitten.

Never heard of that one. I think that if the toilet lid is down and the cabinet is kitten-proof, he ought to be OK in there.
