What I have been doing is exercising and eating fruit and raw veggies and chicken and salad. I don't eat late at night. If you crave something sweet then do it but do a small portion to crave your taste buds.

I lost 12lbs and it is a commitment. I also eat on a small portioned plate instead of a big plate so I don't over eat. It works rather good. I eat just enough and not too much

I don't know if there are foods that actiually help you lose weighg,,, bug, as you aseem to be mosly a vegeterian, I would suggest that you read the south beach diet to leard about the i= mixing of certaom oils and not using wheat, but using wheat subsutites, and it will really work well fo youl He does have sections on vegamsl. it is a dets based on protien, but you can get protein from so many things other than meats. I'm not a vegeterian, but not a lover of meat most of the time ane [erfer finding other things I can eat that will work. Haven't found a miracle cure yet, but, basically cutting down on the intake is the best answer and always remember water, lots of water.

Hiya,

I asked that same question in a forum about 6months ago and managed to get some really good tips :) So far since March 2007, I've gone from a 40inch waist to 33inch, and lost about 20kgs.

NUTRITION
I've learnt that the best things to eat food rich in Protein and low in saturated fat and carbohydrates.
Examples: Fish (tuna and salmon is really good), Seafood, Cottage cheese, most nuts (unsalted), Chicken etc

Carbs or carbohydrates are good in moderation, but choose the right ones, meaning the ones with low GI (it should say so on the pack) cos it keeps you fuller for longer.
Examples: Brown rice, wholewheat pasta, seeded brown bread.

I treat myself 1 day a week on foods I'm not allowed normally, this controls your cravings, but try to AVOID: McDonalds, fast food, cakes, pastries, crisps, chocolates.

EXERCISE
Join the gym and do cardio at least 3 times a week, but if you can't then just make sure you commit to yourself to have a run or a job 3-4times a week.

WATER
Drink plenty of water, about 2litres or more a day. (1 big bottle of Evian) - you'll be surprised how much this helps your diet.

Anyways, if you want more tips I would recommend reading articles on www.bodybuilding.com, you can find my profile on there with my pics :p, search for "delmontebanana"

Eating balanced meals helps out a lot. I'm a vegetarian as well. The best way to lose weight is eat small portions like some others said and making sure that you get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet. A great source of fiber for vegetarians are the dark leaf greens for example spinach is very high in fiber. I would also recommend getting a suppliment to make sure you get your daily amount of iron and vitamin B12. B12 normally is extremely hard to find in most vegetarian foods. The main source of this is in meat of some sort.

I recently spoke with a nutritionist and she confirmed that the dairy campaign promoting 24 ozs. of skim milk satisfies the body by giving you a full feeling and gives you the protein that you need to build and repair muscles. It is recommended that you have 8 ozs. of skim milk for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kicking the soda/sports drink habit and get your 6 - 8 glasses of water a day. Along with a good exercise regimen. I recently started two weeks ago and I've lost 3lbs. Of course I've got far to go, but the milk suggestion really works.

Drink water every day, at least 8 glasses. For most of us, it is easier to drink bottled water and to just have it with us at all times, just sipping away on it. It goes down faster and easier that way. STOP all intake of any type of sodas, diet sodas included. Eat steamed cabbage, for a full stomach, and about no calories. Eat celery, eat cucumbers............stop sweets and chips. Drink tea with no sugar, etc. Do not drink at Starbucks or any place LIKE Starbucks. (they add a lot of great tasting things, but, wow! the calories!). Stop chocolate.
Eat salads with wine vinegar on the salad, as it will help the water to come out of you, also. You can, also, use a squeezed lemon or lime on your salad. Do not have dressing on the side, as you always hear to do. Everytime I see someone do that, they PILE on more than would have come with the salad! Eat boiled eggs, baked potato (plain), eat baked chicken. Mainly, cut down your portion sizes. Look at your fist. That IS your portion size. Try those things.

U can eat like those diet dinners and stuff that cuts back ur food intake. But truthfully the only thing i've ver seen work is cutting calories and working out. U should start at like 1800 a day for a week then next week 16 and work down to 1200. once ur there, ur stomach has shrunk. Then i'd say stay at like1800 to keep the weight off. But defently exercise

Green vegetables. Soups. The real secret though is to exercise. Jogging or Swimming is the best. You won't lost any noticeable weight by dieting alone, exercise is key, and it will be better for you in the end.
