In the New King James Version, did David kill Goliath, or was it His brother? If you use the New King James, do you find this error, Hint, it is in Samuel.
I find no contradictions in the KJV of 1611, do you?

Here is the mistake in the NIV, I will find it in the NKJV als.
"...Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod."
NOTE:
Elhanan is not Goliath, it is the BROTHER of Goliath....

KJV is the Bible. The rest (NIV, NASB, NKJV) all have some problems because they came from Wescott and Hort, who weren't believers:

Whole armies of fools are dedicated to supporting and defending the King James Version of the Bible -- not the 1611 edition, but the 1614 edition (which they think is the 1611 edition) which included more than 400 differences in the two printings. There's also the 1769 edition.
And the Revised version of 1881 had more than 30,000 changes to the NT, alone -- why? Because people had better translations of the Greek and they knew the Textus Receptus used for the KJV was seriously flawed.
The Dead Sea Scroll discoveries in 1949 contributed significantly to the OT translations in other versions of the Bible.
And they've since found translations that were older than the versions used in 1611. (A major part of the KJV translation was based on the individual translation of Martin Luther -- Rather chilling to think that THE translation was mostly based on the translation of an angry former Catholic.)
Saying the KJV or the NKJV are the "word of God," are like living your life based on what you said when you were a baby.
Biblical study and Biblical scholarship have grown and matured, so should the translation of your Bible.
(I use the New Revised Standard Version, published last year by Harper Collins.)
Godspeed.

I just checked, and the NKJV states that David killed Goliath. If you believe otherwise, please provide chapter and verse.
It appears that some translations (although NOT the NKJV, as you alleged) used a version of 2 Sam. that contains a copyist error. These translations leave out the words "the brother of" in the following verse, which changes its meaning:
2 Sam. 21:19 Again there was war at Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. (NKJV)
The KJV essentially reads the same. So again, please provide an exact reference from the NKJV that you feel supports your position and I'll take a look at it.
EDIT: The "proof" that you posted supports what I wrote above. 2 Sam. 21:19 is correct in the NKJV.
As for the NIV, I *NEVER* recommend it be used for serious Bible study.

Hi Brian, I'm glad that you are reading the King James Version 1611*. This is the most faithful translation in the English language.
I'm reading the Dutch StatenBible (Statenvertaling 1637)
* 1611 + 400 year we are in the year 2011 AD
The Bible teaches that at the end of the world all the wicked will come under eternal punishment in a place called Hell, and this time may be very near. There is much Biblical evidence that points to the fall of 2011 as the end of the world.

I use the King James when I want complete absolute precision. I have a brochure that tells where there changes have been made and I avoid them in the newer versions. We are not under law not even about what bible we use. Who are you to Judge another servant? To his own master he stands or falls. God bless you.
Romans 14:4 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
4Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

I'll look into this but......I'm sure there are NO errors in the NKJV......or the NIV
Edit:
I just looked this up. It is definately David & Goliath who are being spoken about..........David kills Goliath.....not his brother.
