Hi hon....
If your doctor says you have a personality disorder, why didn't he refer you to someone who can help?
I'd say, do your research and see what resources are available. You deserve good help.
Yes, i'm sure that your past is a reflection on your personality disorder. Believe me, i had a rough past as well, and suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. Therapy and working on ME did help quite a lot.
Today, i am coping much better and stop and think before i make decisions or do and say things. I try to consider what is best for me, and also to be considerate of others.
Sending hugs and all best wishes.

PD are very had to diagnose and to treat because no two cases are the same. It is very difficult if not impossible to determine fully what is personality disorder and what is just learned behaviour.
Do not dispair!
There is a lot of good work carried out in therapy etc so please have an open mind and take what is offered to you.

See a therapist and work with him on why the past caused you to have this disorder. You will learn a lot about yourself and be able to make sure you get better.

A deeply ingrained, non-psychotic, inflexible, maladaptive pattern of relating, perceiving and behaving, serious enough to cause distress or impaired functioning. Basically, you may find it hard to relate to other ppl! Hopefully it will get better!
I would go on this site I have found just now which is: http://www.personalitydisorder.org.uk/ and it says loads of stuff u need 2 know!
