Hello,
I am 15 (almost 16) I weigh roughly 9 stone.
I usually eat...
Cereal for breakfast
Sandwhiches or pasta for lunch
Various things for dinner
But throughout the day I snack alot.
Would I be able to lose weight just by cutting out the snacks if I still do the excersise I normall do which is...
2 hours of cardio a week at the gym
roughly 4 hours of sport a week
and everynight I do crunches sit ups etc.
Could I lose weight just by cutting out snacks?
Thanks for your help...
Any other advice will be appreciated

I think you might lose weight by just cutting out the snacks. How many snacks do you typically have, though? If you're talking about only 200-300 calories, then you probably will lose weight, but it will take some time.
I was going to suggest that you step up your cardio to 45-60 minutes daily (4-6 times a week), but since you're already in sports, then you probably won't have to worry about that!
ADD:
What you're doing at the gym is great. I would stick with your plan. You're doing a good amount of cardio and weight training. Keep it up, and the weight will melt and stay off.

Great that you are doing cardio and sports!....
Yes I believe that you would lose weight just by cutting out the snacks...
I would advice to you to do more efficient kinds of cardio.. I do not know what you do, but you should do interval training and sprints... which burns 3 times as much fat as regular cardio work...
Here is the best cardio you can do:
Easy Jog for two minutes... then do some stretching (THIS IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT!).. and after stretching do the following:
You run at your 50% effort for 1 minute, then rest by easy jogging for 1 minute... now run at your 75% for 1 minute and then rest 1 minute... finally run at your 100% effort for 30 seconds and then rest for 90 seconds.... and repeat the last one 3-6 times...
All the workout will take you about 12-18 minutes
Do this workout 3 days the first week with a day of rest between workouts.. and then 6 times per week thereafter resting one day...
You can do this cardio workout with any other cardio exercise such as cycling, swimming, stairs, etc...
Now! that will save you time and you will actually burn fat way faster!
..... You should be eating enough to do cardio workouts and have enough energy for doing them... also you should avoid by all means losing muscle in the process of losing weight...
Then try eating enough protein in each meal! protein in all your meals... and if you do snack, it is actually very very good if you do it in a healthy way...
Here is the thing.. if you eat more often your metabolism increases, if your metabolism increases then your body burns fat in less time!! The thing is that you should eat healthy so that this actually workss...
You can avoid anything with sugar! and that would help you a lot!!!
You should avoid things like mayonaise, soda (unless it is sugar-free), sugar (again), bread, rice....
If you eliminate those little things from your diet you will sure see difference!
Here is the best foods you should be eating:
1) Almonds and Other Nuts
2) Beans and Other Legumes
3) Spinach and Other Green Vegetables
4) Dairy Products (the non-fat ones ONLY!!)
5) Instant Oatmeal (without sugar and flavor!!)
6) Eggs (in moderation unless you exercise a lot!)
7) Turkey and Other Lean Meats (only lean meats... forget the pork and duck)
8) Peanut Butter (sugar free)
9) Olive Oil (moderation)
10) Whole-Grain Breads and Cereals (moderation, limit to 2 serving per day... MUST be WHOLE-WHEAT)
11) Extra-Protein (Whey) Powder
12) Raspberries and Other Berries
If you gonna eat 5-6 times per day, then use the list above and you can eat all you want... just stick to the list... get some ideas of snacks using only those foods....
Hope that helps!

If you keep everything else exactly the same, yes.
But what often (usually?) happens is that when people are successful at stopping the snacking they compensate by eating more during their meals.
If you can cut out sodas and snacks between meals, and keep your meals at their current caloric value then you should start to slowly lose weight.
You may also wish to substitute some weight lifting for the cardio at the gym--it takes more calories to build muscle than just to run a gerbil wheel, plus the muscle increases your basal metabolic rate, burning more calories over time.
Of course you wind up feeling hungry all the time, which sucks.
Good luck.

yes, I think so. you're young enough that you shouldn't have to do a lot to lose weight. if you must snack, make it a piece of fruit or raw veggies or popcorn, something healthy.

Hi
Try www.sparkpeople.com if you're the US or www.calorieking.com.au if you're in australia, they are both free sites and really good. I'm using calorie king to record my food and exercise and have learned heaps and have lost 14 kgs since Feb this year. Give it a go and good luck...but don't get too stressed about it all...better to be a bit overweight and happy and thin and unhappy. :)
