I remember the last times I have been to the UK, the times I entered Heathrow airport and Gatwick, the people who stamped your passport would just ask all sorts of questions and one time I was afraid they were going to deny me even!

But I went to Dublin (which is still the UK) and they didnt even look at me or my passport, I dont think, just stamped it.

And then I caught a ferry over to England from there and they didnt even really bother looking at it then either.

what is up with this?

I forgot to mention that they also asked a lot of questions when crossing the tunnel at Dover.

But seriously , why do they not even bother looking at your passport hardly before stamping it at other entry points of the UK??

anyone know?

To the first answerer, I am talking about letting you into the UK.

If I was a "Terrorist" I think i would go to Ireland first and then cross over on the ferry is what i am saying.

Heathrow is the biggest airport in the UK and as such a very popular place for illegal immigrants, terrorists and others to try and get into the country, as a result theres a lot of security and checking of passports.

Similar thing with the tunnel in as much that it is one of the main routes for illegal immigrants between France and UK so they are quite strict on checking passports.

Between Ireland and England isn't considered so much of a problem route because very few illegal immigrants will go via ireland so the security is less.

Also Dublin is in Ireland not the UK so their rules on checking passports may not be as tight.

Dublin is not in the UK, its in Rep. of Eire.

They don't bother checking your passport when you go from UK to Ireland, I've noticed this.

I guess they ask more questions in London as thats where most illegals will be heading in . . .

Because Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world or because London is a high profile city or even because they are doing their jobs.

That's obviously the reason why so many are over here already and still coming over. Maybe the people who work for immigration are part of a cult and they'll come and find you.... oohh!

Always happens to me too, mate. I've no idea why.

Oh, and Dublin is NOT part of the UK.

They are looking to see if you'll become nervous or not. Eye contact is very important.
