I think that if you "know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em," like the song says, you will end up winning more than you lose, but like every other game of chance, skill will only take you so far in poker, and then it becomes a matter of luck. If you get really good at the "rules," though- like which hands have better odds and which need to be folded, you should have a better shot at being successful.

Check out Phil Gordon's book (I forget what it's called)- he has a wealth of information about the game, including a table of different hands and what you should hold or fold.

1) The gambling house doesn't provide these games for nothing. If they didn't make money, they wouldn't provide these games.

2) In Texas Hold'em, all the chips will eventually wind up in one persons pile. Either by luck, skill, or both (or cheating) one person wins all the money, and the rest go home broke. In sanctioned tournaments, 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th and 5th place finishers will walk away with something, but again, the rest go home broke. Unlike another game, like blackjack, where if you're down a few bucks, you can walk away.

3) The best odds in the house is Craps, which I don't know how to play, but they put that at 2.1:1

I know more than one person who makes a living gambling online.

I don't gamble.

However, I think you should do trial and error by yourself to find out. I'm not sure if I'd trust people online to tell me where to go.
