It depends on how old you are. Kids get a fun little party with their families and neighbours. Few presents.

As an adult, you generally just invite your family or close friends to a restaurant, or to the house for dinner and cake. Nothing that special. And the birthday person/inviting person does foot the bill/make the food.

Honestly - we aren't present givers/takers like in North America. The point of any and all celebrations is to be together and celebrate.

I think just like the way most Americans celebrate birthdays. Maybe instead of a regular b-days cake it may be a tiramisu cake or other pastries. They will have huge family and friends gatherings at a restaurant and have a party. They give out presents to the b-day person too. Group outing to dinner is always a big thing there.

Most of us like to thow a party at home or invite people to a the restaurant of our choice. The only difference with most Americans is that we DO pay for the complete amount of the food and drink because WE decided to invit people over, so we have to provide for them. Good thing we are not as tacky as some people above.

okay so you ask how italians celebrate their b-days ... well my
best friend rene is italian and she usually celebrates her birthday by either having a sleepover, going out to eat , having a huge party with all our friends or doing something fun. so if ya ask me i think italians celebrate their birthday by either having a fiesta or just getting together to do something fun and entertaining with their friends and family but it depends wether they live in italy or america.

Why not stay in Italy and find the answer by yourself instead of being a boring troll.
