I tend to slouch, have been trying to improve my posture by reading articles posted on the web. Only try to walk with 'good' posture when I am conscious of my bad posture.

Core muscle exercises!!! If you develop strong core muscles, good posture will seem to come naturally.

Exercising is the best way to improve one's posture. Every person I see who works out always has great posture. Consciously walking/standing with good posture helps, it will become second nature.

It's hard to remember to sit up after you have been slumping for years and you may need some help. If you try and just can't do it on your own it would be better to try this advise don't you think? Do it for your neck & backs sake!
There is a soft brace for either men or women.

If you are a female, they make a comfy support bra that holds your shoulders back, it's expensive but will help you sit up straight. Slumping is a bad habit that's all & if you do it for years your spine will suffer along with back aches, shoulder aches & head aches. If you don't work on it your back will grow like that!
If you are a male or female this will work for both. They make a soft fabric brace (a harness type brace) you wear under your clothes that does the same thing. It pulls your shoulders back automatically. You can adjust it to fit. It feels weird and is annoying because your back is not use to being have!!!!! They have them at the drug store or Walmart.
They also make a soft cervical collar to wear around the house or where ever, it holds your head up straight therefore straitening your back at the same time. Sometimes my neck hurts s bad I wear it for a few days, even sleep in it and it helps tremendously!

Practice, just sit straight up whenever you notice pretty soon it will become habit. Your question just made me realize I was slooching.

If you work in an office setting you can get one of those pillows that you tie to the back of your chair-it forces you to sit up straight.
