my 5month old kitten has blood on both his hands and he seems to be clawing at his mouth violently or chewing on his nails??? not sure. he doesnt appear to be choking on anything? could it be a loose tooth he is trying to knock out or injured nail or is this a sign of rabies? he was sort of snarling a little but now he is fine sitting and purring.

If you love this animal, you need to take it to the vet immediately. There could be something wrong with the gums, teeth, nails, etc. you just don't know in this situation. Anytime there is blood involved with an animal, you don't want to take chances. Please, take my advice and seek professional care in this situation for the sake of your kitten's health.

Kitty may have a hairball, if kitty is long haired that makes it even more likely. Many cats barf up hairballs, which are caused by accumulated hair swallowed when grooming. Many cats pass that in there feces, but just as many vomit them. You can purchase food that will help your cat pass hairballs, also there are food supplements that will help. Kitty may not be able to tolerate the food she is getting now if it has been changed. Lastly I have seen cats do this when they have a worm infestation. If kitty has not been wormed you need to do this. The vet can do this or you can go to your local pet store and buy meds. At the pet store you won't be able to get worm meds for tapeworm, but round worms are the most common.

He's playing in an agressive manner. But I do not think that this is normal behavior. He might have something caught in between his teeth, and is trying to get it out. I don't believe you should drag him to the vet, it's not that serious, but I do think you should call him/ her, they will have a better diagnosis for you. Also, make sure he has plenty of toys that might distract him from making himself bleed. Good luck! Hope that I helped you in some way.

It's a good sign that he is purring and seems more happy now but you should take him to a vet just to make sure it's not something serious.I'm sure it's not but it's better to be safe then sorry!

take him to a vet, they will be able to diagnose more accurately.

my guess is that he has something either stuck in his paws which he is trying to get out or that he has something stuck in his mouth which he is trying to get out. he might have rabies, but its doubtful. look for debris stuck between the pads of his feet and claws, and for stuff stuck in his gums, but definantly take him to the vet if you cant resolve the problem quickly.

hope it works out

You need to bring him to the vet. This sounds potentially serious. Is it possible that he got into something? Kittens are curious and playful. If you have anything sharp lying around then you need to remove it so the kitten doesn't get into it.

Please take the kitten to the vet now. They accept emergencies. This sounds like one.
