I have always been very Proud to be an American every since I was a child I will be 30 next week but anyway I am buying a house and the 1st thing I am doing is putting up a flag pole. My question is that I want to put the flag at half staff as well as the POW Flag cause my feeling is the many many men and women who have died for this country should be honered and remembered everyday not just a few selexct days a year. Would it be wrong to do it that way? also would it be wrong to put the POW Flag under the American flag or should the POW Flag be flown seperatly? I wish I could had joined the military after I turned 18 but I cannot use my right hand from being born with brain damage. I also am going to light the flag pole with RED White and Blue Lights shining on old Glory.

Fly your flags high and proudly good patriot! The American flag should always be on top and any other, including the POW / MIA, below it. It shows no disrespect. By just flying the POW / MIA flag you're showing the essence of what the flag stands for, Gone but not forgotten........
If you want to go half staff stay true to the government calls as to when to go to half staff. Half staff kind of looses it's meaning and symbolism if the flag's always flying at it.
I'm sure you would've been an asset to this country's military.

I totally think that is a wonderful idea!My hubby is currently serving in Iraq! Only thing with the two flags is obviously make sure the POW Flag goes under or to the left of the American Flag. And finally make sure if you are keeping it out 24/7 that at night it is well light up! Good luck and thank you for supporting our men and women!

You can have both flags on the same staff (pole), however the size of the flags are dictated by the Height of the pole. For example if the height of the pole is 20' you may want to choose a 4x5'. Make certain that at half staff the flags are not at ground level. Feel free to fly the colors with pride

I understand your sentiment. However, to properly fly the flag in accordance with tradition, you should fly it normally. To fly the flag at half-staff is for government buildings, but private property can fly the flag at half-staff during the times being observed. The POW flag can be flown together (under) or separetly. Lights should only be on during the evening hours, and only if the flag is being flown 24 hours a day.

Thank you for your support and patriotism. God Bless you.

The flag should not be flown half-staff every day; there are federal guidelines for the display of the flag. It is best, if you wish to be patriotic, to follow these. The POW flag can be flown below the U.S. flag.

Fly the flag half-mast when occasions dictate.

US flag at the top of the pole, unless otherwise directed, also, if you would like two separate poles, just ensure the POW flag pole is slightly lower than the American flag pole.

I fly the US flag 365, the POW / MIA flag under it. When going to half mast, I lower both, as they are on the same line. When raising before going to half mast, go all the way to top and then back down to 1/2
You can leave them up at night but ettiquete dictates a light must be on them. I hooked up a solar charged light.
Have fun

I think it's admirable that you want to show your loyalty to the USA. I am very loyal and because of that, rather than fly my flag at half staff, I would fly it upside down which is a symbol of distress. I believe the USA is in distress today. We have little or no law enforcement against illegal immigrants. We have sanctuary cities that protect lawbreakers and collect our tax dollars for doing so. We have a court system that is a sham with all the plea bargains and corruption. Our traffic courts are Kangaroo courts that are not interested in safety but in levying fines and getting revenue. Our churches are no longer safe from politicians -- in other words there is no more separation of church and state because the churches are inviting the politicians into the churches and they are literally politicking in the churches. The Churches are using their sanctuary status to preach hatred and organize armies to fight U.S. Citizens in the name of Allah, or God or whatever their religion is while removing the word "God" from our flag certificates and our schools and everything else public. Meanwhile, as was stated on the news this morning, the Muslim children are being trained in military tactics and hatred of Jews and Christians and Westerners in general. Our children, meanwhile, are prevented from learning how to protect themselves in schools and are taught only to hide and become stationary targets for the radicals. Have you noticed how the number of school shootings have been occurring recently? Radical Muslims and Hispanic and Latino radicals are teaching takeover of the USA and are broadcasting that hatred and takeover via their native language newspapers and native language signs and native language TV. Supposedly there is a person who is translating these signs and television shows and internet "broadcasts" on a website called MEMRI. When English is not taught in our school except as a second language, our country is in trouble. In Aurora, IL. parents have told me that they have had to transfer their children out of the public schools because the classes are taught in Spanish, not English, despite the fact that these students are English-speaking students. So, I'm glad you love the country as I do and I hope you are willing to fight for it as hard and as long as I have and I hope that you are making sure that you are aware of all these things that are threatening our freedom and our soverignty on the homefront. I read the Spanish language newspapers and watch Spanish language news. I am becoming much better at understanding what they are saying and when I go to their meetings (or send a person who looks like them and speaks their language to videotape or tape the meetings) I am able to understand their "calls to action". The problem is that our government doesn't respond to its citizens even when we report these anti-american activities. We have reported illegal immigrants who have registered to vote and are voting in our elections and the government claims it can't do anything about it because it can't check the identitications of these people. So even though it's against the laws of the land for illegal immigrants to vote, the laws have no teeth and are not being enforced. Therefore our country is being taken over.

Please fly your flag proudly, even if you fly it upside down, or at half mast. NEVER fly any other flag above the US Flag. That is a sign that the country has been taken over by the Nation whose flag is on top. Never let the flag touch the ground because that is a symbol of defeat and too many good men and women have died to keep this Nation Free.

We can't, however, just fly the flag. We have to be loyal to our country and we have to ensure that our laws are enforced and that our government is doing the job we elected it to do. As some former statesmen and Supreme Court Justices stated in a booklet entitled "Your Rights Under the Constitution" by James A. Moss, Colonel USA retired and published by the U.S. Flag Association, the biggest danger facing the USA today (and this booklet was published in 1936) is "Letting George do it". "George being the Government". It's quite obvious that we didn't learn the lessons of the past and so we are repeating it.

Fly it half staff ONLY if the govt. says to. I think having the American flag would show even more respect for those who have served. After all....that is what they fought for....
