This might sound dumb but my friend said you can't because you will cut off whiskers? I don't see any though and I've never owned a dog before my current one. Hes a mini poodle and just has mangy looking hair i normally use dog clippers and cut it down but want to do face as well?

Yes you can trim face hair, I have seen it done. I don't like it when I see a dog come from the groomers and they cut their whiskers. I feel bad for them, but it must not bother the dog....

Yes dogs have whiskers!

Absolutely!

I was a groomer for years, and owner of 7 miniature poodles. Unlike cats, a dog's whiskers are able to be removed without any problems for the dog.

Mini Poodles faces are always trimmed very close, with a clipper blade.

Yes, you can, and it does not hurt a dog to trim his whiskers (unlike a cat who uses his whiskers to feel the width of narrow places it wants to enter). Most poodles get their faces trimmed quite closely and it looks fine.

I sure hope so, because I have been cutting my dogs' faces for over 15 years. I have a Poodle mix and I have to trim her face or it gets out of hand.

yes you can, dogs don't use their whiskers like cats do. last time i had mt shih tzu to the groomer she cut her whiskers and beard off i don't like it. she looks like a toppy knot chicken lol but it will grow back and ill tel the groomer next time the beard is off limits.if you don't ever trim a fuzzy dogs face they get filthy, even with bathing and stuff, dogs go into everything face first.or at least my shih tzu does, she loves to get in the dirt and mud and anything else she can find and if i leave her face hair full length it makes an awful mess when she comes back inside.

Well i used to trim my dogs face and i had her for 18 wonderfull years so it never done her any harm! Also i used to cut her fringe cuz it used to go down and hide her eyes, so that meant i was cutting her eye lashes too and she was always fine!

yes you can trim dog face hair. ever seen schnauzers with their mustaches? if people didn't trim them they'd hang down half way to their feet. it won't hurt your dog at all, though most dogs don't like having scissors or clippers anywhere near their faces.

we do, keep the dog still, put your fingers between the scissor and its face and cut the hair, its best you get your dog use to this from an early age so it doesnt freak out, kinda like plucking ear hair in maltese.

If you can get someone to hold him still then yes , just be careful as scissors are dangerous near their eyes as they ,like humans can turn their head at the wrong time
