Press the PRINT SCREEN button

then just go to Microsoft word, open a blank document, right click on a blank space and click PASTE

PrnScr will take a screen shot of the whole window.
Alt+PrnScr will take a screen shot of the open window only.
Image goes to the clipboard.
Go to a document, right-click, paste.
Right-cl the image to Format, Picture

I use this all the time to make cheatsheets for friends and family who need a little help stepping into the PC world.

Not sure about PC, but on MAC, you hit :Apple+shift+3 to get entire screen, and Apple+Shift+4 to select an area you want a shot of.
Print screen and opening it on word seems a bit of a hassle. There should be an easier way.

or you can paste it into, a Paint (graphics) program.

to use the image save it as a jpg graphic
