I take your hand as my brother in faith. I'm glad there are Christians such as yourself willing to acknowledge that we worship the same Jehovah, Yahwe, Allah (=GOD) as you do, and that truely is a massive step to a lasting friendship.
Salam, Shalom, Peace to you!!! I'm really glad to hear there are people like you

There are extremists on both sides. Those extremists have something in common, which is the rejection of peace & coexistence!
It's the job of the moderates on both side to make it happened. There must be an increase in awareness of common things Christians & Muslims have (after all they believe in the same God, whether the extremists liked it or not, the word “Allah” is all over the pages of the bible. Those who can read the bible in Arabic would confirm it). They should also increase awareness of the good things they can offer each other & the rest of humanity.
I’m sure once the moderates peace loving Christians & Muslims learn about each other, they’ll discover the lies & evil work extremists had been doing to split the world apart!

I think you're right -- Christians and Muslims can peacefully co-exist. In fact, they have peacefully co-existed at many points throughout history.
I think you hit the nail on the head by pointing out the diverse nature of both Islam and Christianity. The question is really not whether or not Muslims and Christians can get along, but which kinds of Muslims and Christians can get along. While there are extremists in both religions, there should be no need for significant conflict between moderates and liberals of each faith. Many Muslims tend to be quite accepting of Christians, believing them to be fellow 'people of the book' (sadly they can tend to be less accepting of non-Abrahamaic faith traditions). Of course there remains a strong theocratic impulse in Islam which might be a serious stumbling block for relations between Muslims and many westerners.
Regarding your claim that Christians and Muslims worship the same god -- I think that's a difficult area which is open to quite a bit of debate. But, in my opinion, it shouldn't really matter whether we worship the same god or not. We should be able to co-exist even with those who clearly worship a different god, or who worship no god at all. The true foundation of peaceful co-existence between religions is not a reocgnition that we are in some way co-religionists, but a recognition that we share a common humanity.

We all can co-exist Atheist, Buddhist, Pagan, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, etc. These days the more we ask if we can, the more we seem to be separating one another. This letter is another example why at this point, it is hard, but nothing is impossible.
The letter directed at the Pope and other Christian religious leaders!!! Is it just me! Doesn't that another way of putting the blame on what is going on around the world only on the Christians!
"leaders of the Muslim world will warn the Pope and other Christian leaders today|"
Warn!!
was the same letter sent to the Muslim leaders as well. or, is the blame for all the problems on earth is dropped on the Christian leaders! The KKK, race based hate, not religion, and so are white supremacists.
Yes we do need to co-exist. But, it will not happen if one part of that group blames the other, and close their eyes for their own part of the blame. It takes two.
The letter is intended for the Christians only, and you worry about the Atheists and Pagans. Why! Would you please stay with the topic and not complicate as if it needs any more complication. One at a time. please for whatever that is holy to you.

Muslims and christians have co-existed before and still do in many places.
I do not believe that they all worship God. The correct term to use is that they all say they worship God. Truly worshipping God only comes after one has proper knowledge about the One WHo deserves to be worshipped.
Nevertheless, this does not mean that muslims and christians can not help each other in worldly matters.

Islam has used the media to deceive you.
Muslims do not worship the same god as Jews and Christians.
And the only way Christians can live peacably with Muslims is for Christians (and everyone for that matter) to convert to Islam.
Non-Muslims are condemned to death for rejecting the Islamic god and the prophet they hold dear.
"And if any believe not in Allah and His Messenger, We have prepared, for those who reject Allah, a Blazing Fire!"

As long as both maintain a healthy distance and mutual understanding of the need to live and let live, they will be happy living together.
By healthy distance, I literally mean, to not butt into each others business and respect each other.
Such a thing has happened during the Ottoman rule and still continues in modern Turkey.
Also in places where christians and muslims are in majority. Like Lebanon, Egypt and Malaysia.
People who live in the US are also living peacefully.
If you dont believe me you need to look into the lives of people who live there currently.
Ofcourse there will always be those pesky trouble makers amongst each group, the wisdom, is not to follow their lead.

I absolutely agree with you. Basically all religions believe in similar ideals. What is needed is more education in schools in comparative religions, hopefully by unbiased teachers. The Golden Rule is common to all faiths. All of this antagonism between religions is pointless and againsts the basic rules of the religions.

I hope not. If they stop fighting each other they will turn on the atheists and pagans again.
I doubt if they can. They likely realise that any further religious warfare is likely to tip the whole world into an expanded version of WWII with nuclear arsenals available.
When politicians talk peace, worry.

There would be fights maybe deaths, injuries for sure. If they can't accept that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour than it is hard to get along. Just think of the arguements on here, imagine that in person, wouldn't work. But no harm in trying to do whatever it is your doing, go for it brother.
