No, but I think this question is a form of cranial abuse. You expect my brain to go lower. It can't.

Babies are more logical than you think. Babies have an inherent understanding of physics. Bet you didnt know that.
Babies have to learn somehow and start with something... you cant expect them to learn YOUR logic first before all other things
I suppose you think Santa Clause, Tooth fairies, Trolls, and ideas like justice are child abuse, also?
Just because you dont believe in it doesnt mean its fictitious... you do realize that right? Until youve actually proven God nonexistent, there is nothing wrong with keeping an open mind to the possibility.
Furthermore, preaching religion is no different than preaching cultural heritage. A set of ideals by which to identify and base ones choices.
To prove your bigotry, I will announce now that you will select best answer to someone who answers your question in the affirmative, validating your prejudices, with no regard for thoroughness or logic. This is why youre not an atheist... youre an anti-theist.

Alone I would not say it's a form of child abuse..Now if the parent is a religious extremist then it may feel like abuse because of the simple mindedness. However, I think having some sort of spirituality to fall back on is a good thing and can get you through the day when you are down. It's a more intimate look at oneself.

I don't tlhink it's a form of child abuse for me to teach my child what I believe. What really gets to me is when other people feel it is their right to try and teach my children differently. I practice Alchemy, and have studied esoteric Christianity and the Hermetic sciences fairly extensively, and am introducing my children to the same.
My mother, and others in my life, see fit to directly contradict me in front of my children, which confuses them. Others in their lives have told them they will go to hell because we celebrate some pagan holidays, or because we believe we have the ability to focus our mental powers to enact positive changes. That I see as abuse. to intentionally confuse a child, or attempt to scare them into a belief, is abhorrent. My children have access to materials from every religion/faith I can get my hands on, as well as other philosophies and ideas. They know what I believe, and that others do not believe the same as me. People need to back off and give them a chance to learn and grow - I feel blessed to give them that chance I didn't have until I was an adult.

If so, then anything a parent teaches a child before they are old enough to logically understand it would be child abuse, and we would cease to learn. To pose your question another way...is it child abuse to teach a child the alphabet and phonics before he is able to logically understand them?
Of course not, it is educationg your child so that they are prepared to deal with the world around them. Same thing with religion, whatever the belief...you are teaching your child how to deal with the world around them. How many of the school shooters were raised with a religious/spiritual teaching? Maybe NOT teaching religion is a form of child abuse!

Yes it is disturbing how terrified some of these kids are at the notion of hell.
Someone said something about it being the equivalent of teaching your kids about santa or justice, that is certainly not in any way close to scaring your kids senseless with stories of writhing in pain forever in a pit/lake of fire, the people who do this are sick. Aside from that I see kids becomming confused when they go to school because their parents and their schools teach them different things and they don't know what/who to believe.

failure to teach a child right from wrong, failure to teach morals, failure to teach a child about love is child neglect....
teaching a child about God is the greatest gift a parent can give a child....
don't go down that road of child abuse babble just because you have a personal grudge against God..
there are far too many nuts cases out there who have used that nasty weapon against the other parent and have made false child abuse claims on that basis.....

I think in some cases it is because some parents force religion onto children and basically tell them "that's how it is", not giving them a right to choose what they believe up front. And if they do choose, they usually have to hide that from their parents.

No, I think it's child abuse not to share the greatness and goodness of God with them. They should know about salvation and their choice to follow Christ or not.
So many people think as you do but have no problem telling their kids that homosexuality is okay, that sex before marriage is okay, putting them on birth control in their early teens is considered progressive, letting them watch everything and anything on television is okay...but don't ruin them by teaching them about God!! UGH!

Do you think feeding a child healthy food when you know he'd rather have sweets is child abuse?
Or do you think that parents ought to let their kids choose...
Do you think taking a child for regular doctor visits is child abuse?
Or should parents wait until their kids are old enough to decide for themselves whether they want to be vaccinated or not?
How old should a child be, before you let him decide these things for himself?

I don't think so.
In the United states, no matter how wrong someone is, they should be able to teach it to their kids.
Anyway, parents are supposed to teach their kids what they want them to believe. Or would you rather the government do that for them?
