One of my professors is applying for a teacher's award and asked me to write her a recommendation letter. I have no idea what the format for that would be. Anyone have any tips?

I would like to take this great opportunity to recommend Ms. XYz to be a candidate for the.......(state the name of the award). She has been my mentor for the last (state the number of years/months) and i find her to be truly qualified for being the "best teacher of ................(state the name of the school )"

She is embodies a mother, a teacher and a friend as she nurtures the mind and spirit of the young people. She knows the lessons well as she teaches not only what is written in the books but tells each student how to apply each topic in their daily lives. Her wisdom is highly evident with the way she talks and she is always eager to impart her knowledge........

ok..ok...you know your teacher more than i do...so recommend her for HOW YOU KNOW HER......state her qualifications as stated on the criteria for choosing the best for a particular teachers award...........Good luck to your teacher..

First, use any statistics to prove this professor is good at what he or she does. List any other awards, recognitions, publications, research and so on.
Write what distinguishes this professor from others, why his or her actions and methods are more effective, and what he or she has done beyond the normal duties of the job to help students, the school, the city or another organization or body of knowledge.
Finally, write what you like about this person and what makes him or her special. Write about any lasting effects this professor has had on you, other students, and the community at large.
