Its hard to get information about a soldier if your not related. If you know the brothers name you might be able to track him down ... but remember, it is normal to not hear from them sometimes. My husband was deployed and explained to me that sometimes, no news was good news. When they are on missions it is impossible for them to communicate with loved ones here at home. Then, there is the issue of phone lines and internet service problems also. Keep your head up and think positive. Im sure he will be intouch with you soon. ~~Liz

In my opinion you should directly contact his army base station and enquire. I see no hassles at all or any need for a direct relationship.
You could always ask in the capacity of a friend and even request them to pass a message through some diplomatic pouch that they may have as an apparatus to reach out to people stationed in remote areas.
Go right ahead. Most of these are issues in the mind.
Moreover what else do you lose other than getting your request rejected (which you are yourself doing in your mind)...if you succeed it would anyway be worth the attempt right?

my ex bf was a soldiar who is about to be deployed on his second tour, and he came from ft. hood too. He is infantry, and when we were together we thought we would still be together up until his next deployment so he talked to me about what it would be like, and he also told me that if he was on a mission he would be away from base unable to call, email or anything. So chances are he just may be on a mission right now where he is away from base and cant check email or make any calls. Now of course if its a top secret mission , you may not know anything at all....I am sure everything is fine. What you could always do is just watch the news because they are good at reporting any deaths. I am sure everything is ok, he just may be on a mission thats all =)

Sometimes getting iformation about someone who is deployed to a war zone can be difficult. If you are not a direct relative, it is very difficult. You may be able to get some information about the unit, thrrough the post, but location and info on any one soldier is probably classified or private info.

Contact the local Red Cross. They can relay a message directly through his chain of command and provide your message to him. This does not mean that they will reply to you however. They will respond to a family member as for friends they will give the message to the service member.

You may also try contacting a Chaplin in Ft Hood, if they decide your request has any merit they may tell if there is anything to worry about. They wont tell you were He is or anything that could be considered a security risk.
