I was sitting in the bus yesterday and a guy walked pass my left side and bumped his bag on my left arm pretty hard. I felt a sharp object that scratched my arm. I had a look and it started to bleed.

When the bus stopped, I walked up to the guy and ask him to show me what was in his bag and I immediately noticed some sharp object sticking out of the fabric of the bag.

He then pulled out a book out of his bag and I can see the metal book binder sticking out.

My question is should i get a tetnus shot? I have a vague feeling that he did it purposely but he did apologize. What is the chance of catching Hep C or other diseases if he did in fact hurt someone else with the metal before me?

Please advice

You can't get hep c from a metal book binder, so relax. It is only transmitted by blood to blood contact from an infected person to a non infected person through medical equipment like hypodermic needles, tattoo needles, kidney dialysis machines, etc. It can also be passed from mother to child in childbirth, or to a lesser degree by people sharing razors or toothbrushes, but not by notebooks. Best wishes.
