That depends on how you feel and view love. If you truly love a person normally your feeling would be you want to be together with that person at all cost and you want to do everything for that person, want to see that person happy, want to see that person appreciate your love. And that feeling has to be mutual. One-sided love is always painful, there is always a void and emptiness in your heart that could never be filled without the other heart with you. If a bf and gf have been in love and lasted for quite a while and then break up, it is important to find out the real reason and truly understand each other to see if breaking up is caused by misunderstandings, or really for some valid reasons, like cannot get along or agree on anything, or always get on each other's nerves. If it is misunderstandings, maybe there is a good chance to reconcile. Love should generate mutual happiness, not one side taking advantage of the other, both sides have to make an effort to make thing work, and build the future together. In life we often can control only our own self, not the other person. If the other person is unwilling, then it is better you bury all your feelings and find one that truly wants you needs you and want to be together with you. But you must find one that also truly believe in love, like yourself. Then the love will last. But in the process love needs to be valued and nurtured by both sides to keep it strong, like a growing plant.

Although most would tend to use love for selfish gains, there should still be some who believe in love. Look hard enough, you will find it. Good luck to you.

Not necessarily for any bf or gf, but for your soul mate. Unconditional love is for being "in love", not for simply loving someone. You will learn the difference in time.

Unconditional lasting love is reserved for the one you marry and spend (hopefully) the rest of your life with - not for some guy you dated briefly while in school.

I have 2 disagree with some of the answers I read in re: to
your ?
Not that it Should but, yes it does happen.
It all depends on what all u go thru before the breakup.
And if u can part as friends it is a good thing.

Actual Love is a permanent part of you.
However..... the exact constructions of any relationship are always conditional. If they are not, someone is allowing themselves to be used.

Friendship, rather than love - maybe, and I am stretching maybe as far as it can go - if there is a breakup....love, certainly, when you are together - anything less means it isn't a true relationship.
