The ultimate answer would be sacrifice in any given situation. Goods or wealth do not proclaim or give happiness. Neither have anything to do with this subject. Happiness depends on the individule's needs and wants and the sacrifices or consequences they may have to make in order to reach that plateau.. Namaste....peace & love.....(((Hugzzz)))

For some reason (humanity perhaps) I like to hold onto some things that don't make me happy b/c they are familiar.
Whatever I'm willing to give up to make me happy I have already done or am doing.
I want less stuff - so anything I don't need and
Some baggage/resentments that I'm in counselling for.
I'm not even sure I'm ready to be happy but I'm moving toward it anyhow.

Happiness is a measure of our acceptance of what is and gratitude for life. The things we have or do not have is not directly related to our level of happiness. No matter what I give up or attain my happiness depends solely on my ability to accept this moment right now and everything in it with gratitude for being right where I am.

I have never had to give up anything to be happy. Are you talking about negative things like hate etc?

I can't see that giving up something can make one happy, unless of course it's taxes.
:-) I can honestly say that if I could give up paying taxes, I would be genuinely happy about it.

I'd give up anything if i knew it would make me happy. Why wouldn't you? think about it.
It can't make you unhappy if your giving it up to have happiness. Kinda deep if you think about it.

I believe that is the definition of sacrifice.
