OR is grace and truth achieved by embracing understanding?

Solomon: Proverbs 4 (summarized)
With all thy getting, get it: understanding;
And when embraced, result is a grace glory crown.

How do you embrace understanding?
Don't you have to get close enough to embrace?
Does law oft hind-er embracing grace and truth?

Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17). The only way to embrace grace and truth is to by one's own free will confess from one's heart Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior. God will not compel anyone to believe in Jesus Christ as Savior to embrace grace and truth. The answer to your first question is no.

Of course grace and truth can't be forced..God doesn't force his grace and I doubt man knows truth. If humans can't embrace tolerance and understanding we are truly doomed.
