I notice to teach “Grace only”, you had to ADD the word “only”!

In fact this chapter does not teach we are saved by grace only! Verse 17 teaches that those who “come” can be saved!

Adding the word “only”, is a violation of verses 18 and 19 that teach that we are not to add to or take away from the words of this book!

We indeed are saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), but we are not saved without obedience (Ephesians 2:10, James 2, Hebrews 5:9)! (Obeying the commands of God, doing the works of God as opposed to our own works.)

1 Peter 3:20-21 compares our salvation to the saving of Noah and his family. Noah was saved from the wickedness of the old world by the flood. The waters of the flood washed away the old, wicked world and delivered Noah to a new world to begin a new life.

Similar to this, at baptism, the blood of Christ washes away our sin (Revelation 1:5, Acts 22:16), and we are born again to begin a new life, in Christ! (Romans 6:4)

Noah was saved by grace! Genesis 6:8 says, “Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”

Noah was also saved by faith! (Hebrews 11:7)

Noah being saved by faith and grace, however, does not mean there was nothing he had to do! Hebrews 11:7 goes on to teach that Noah was saved by obedience! Noah had to prepare an ark to save his household! “Noah… moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house…”

Faith, grace, and obedience work together! The Bible clearly teaches that salvation is by grace, but it also says that Jesus “is the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him!” (Hebrews 5:9) These concepts, when properly understood, do not contradict each other!
