I was born in morecambe, UK and then when i was 3 moths old moved away from my original mother, i know her name and where i was born, there the only details i currently have. Im 18 and so legally alllowed to start the search for my mother

get a copy of the phone book , or do a web search on the name, and location.

go to the hospital and request your birth records. (they may not have them, but they might. DO NOT mention that you are adopted!)

REGISTER with http://www.isrr.org, and as many other adoption search engines as you can find.

If all else fails, hire a private investigator, or ask the agency that placed you to find her. (this can be extremely expensive)

If she had a male sibling then the search for him will be much easier since he will no change his name. To look for siblings, first find her name which will list her mothers maiden name and the district where the birth was registered. Then search for the same names and likely the same district in the years before and following. A sibling birth will likely be with 3-4 years around her birth.

You can also use this site to search the marriage index but it unlikely she will be listed there because the marriage index stops at 1983. You can however use it to locate her parents. You will have her mother's maiden name and you will know her father surname so you can search for a marriage in a likely time frame of a year of 2 prior to the 1st child's birth. Once you locate the parents name you can likely find them around the same area.

apply for your original birth certificate first i was adopted in 1951 and don't get me wrong i have a fab family, but i have just recently found a sister and it's really weird to find someone older than you who you are related to by blood, now there's two of us looking for our birth mother, it's very interesting just take it a day at a time ,good luck hope you find what you want,,,

do you know what your name used to be? if you knew that you could get your real birthcertificate. at least here in the states. yes by all means go and try and find them. i mean hey its something you need to so i have found mine and both are dead for long time but its worth knowing about them and pictures take care.

I think it's nice that you want to know where you came from but dont' forget about your adoptive paretns because they are actually your REAL parents because they raised you and didn't care that you weren't their flesh and blood. good luck looking for you mother. have you tried calling radio stations in around the area where she might be? that would be a good idea. good luck.
