I always bring those little Debbie cakes. They are about 1.5 you need about 2 boxes or maybe three. I bring in juice boxes too. I do it all for about 12-15 dollars. I think it's fun for him to celebrate his birthday at school. Usually he has three different celebrations anyway. One at school, one at home and then one with friends over and we go to the video arcade or see a movie and have dinner. Birthdays are a big deal here!
I'm not saying what you are doing is wrong, you do what you like to do. That's what makes our world great, everyone has different ways of celebrating! I hope you have a lot of fun and it's NOT bad to not bring in cupcakes!
I think the reason why I go so crazy is because he almost died when he was born. I go crazy on his birthday. LOL

No that's not bad. Celebrating his birthday tonight will mean more considering in school it's more or less a "break" in the schedule, rather than a celebration of his birthday. If you want to make it special for him ... take a couple balloons to the office to have taken to him .. seeing the balloons will light up his smile more than bringing in cupcakes.
Make it special for him .. not everyone else. :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON!

I think it depends on his age. In elementary school, it still is important for the entire day to be all about the child. In my kid's elementary school their teacher gives them a "birthday crown" to wear all day and they are the teacher's helper for the day.
I always take a treat in for the class. Sometimes I make cupcakes. This year I bought them at our local grocer (no time)! Either way, I think it helps the child remember how special they are.
Enjoy the day!

How old is he? I would bring a little something maybe sone pencils or something. I know in the elementary schools around us the kids are not allowed to bring in cupcakes anymore. Due to allergies. So they recommend pencils or stickers or some other little things. I think that it is ok to do something at home too. If you dont want to bring in anything.

It's not bad babe. I don't take anything to school for my childrens' friends because no matter what you take there's always someone who isn't allowed to eat it because of allergies, I don't like the idea of someone being left out. Happy birthday to your son, I hope you all have fun.

I'd bring something for this class. You don't want him to feel left out.
Run to Dunkin Donuts and buy munchkins.
And Happy birthday to your baby boy.
